Brendon Urie’s mustached appearance trends, sparking past controversies

This past Monday, a flurry of memes and images depicting Urie with his mustache made the rounds on social media, with fans humorously indicating their inability to recognize him in this new look.

While Brendon Urie has worn a mustache at different stages of his career, none have been as striking as the vintage style currently gaining traction. Previously, he maintained a lighter French beard alongside a subtle mustache.

In 2014, he humorously shared on X that he was “working on his mustache,”showcasing a much more understated appearance compared to his current style.

“Working on my mustache at the Guinness Storehouse yesterday in Dublin,”Urie wrote.

While Brendon Urie’s mustache is making headlines now, it pales in comparison to the serious issues that have brought him scrutiny over the years. In 2015, at a meet and greet, an anonymous user on X alleged that Urie had committed sexual assault. Subsequently, two more individuals claimed he assaulted them in 2009 and 2011.

In the early 2000s, Urie received backlash for making an inappropriate remark regarding rape, stating during a performance that if he saw any audience member outside the venue, he would “f*ck them.”

“If I see you after the show, I’m gonna f*ck you. And I don’t care if you want it. I more care if you don’t want it because then I really want it,”Urie claimed.

According to Far Out, during a 2013 interview following the release of “Girls/Girls/Boys,”Urie elaborated on the inspiration behind the lyrics of the song.

He explained that the band coined the term “bars*xual”because it resonated with them, indicating it referred to girls kissing anyone in a bar setting. This sparked a discussion over the song’s themes and its approach to sexuality.

“Maybe not bisexual, but they have the term ‘bars*xual’ where girls would kiss in bars and have a few too many. And that, for whatever reason, was just a s*xy idea – so yeah. It came out of that idea. Cool,”Urie expressed.

Furthermore, in the early 2000s, Urie encountered criticism for a racially insensitive comment where he expressed a desire to have been born black to freely wear the clothes he wished. Additionally, in 2020, the hashtag #BrendonUrieSpeakUp was trending on X as people shared their assault experiences involving the singer.

To date, Brendon Urie has not publicly addressed any of the allegations or his controversial remarks, nor has he commented on his viral mustached appearance.
