The Challenge 40 has showcased some of the strongest competitors on the show, with several players facing elimination as they fight to stay in the game until the finale. Among those eliminated were cast members Brad Fiorenza and Emily Schromm, who gained attention this season for their budding showmance.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on September 25, 2024, Brad discussed his romantic connection with Emily and their current relationship status. He reflected on his exit from The Challenge and how Emily’s choices played a role in his gameplay. Brad reminisced about the strong bond he built with Emily, leading him to question whether their relationship extended beyond friendship.
After their elimination, Brad revealed that he and Emily have spoken multiple times. He stated:
“We’ve spoken a few times after the show and we’re great — I still enjoy her conversations the same as I did, but we’re just not romantically involved anymore.”
Brad from The Challenge shares that his connection with Emily has “fizzled out”
During the discussion, Brad mentioned that he was the initiator in pursuing a romantic relationship with Emily, but she preferred something more “casual.”The two now maintain a friendship, as Brad explained that the show’s intense environment left him unprepared for a serious relationship. He elaborated on how their romance “fizzled out”during the competition:
“Obviously we’re from two different places, we met on the season, we started to build this amazing rapport over a couple of weeks, so it kind of just turned into something for a second. And then it just fizzled out on the show.”
Brad shared that he and Emily often woke up early to enjoy the natural scenery, unlike other contestants who slept in. He also touched upon his elimination and how Emily’s choices influenced his own strategy.
Brad explained he was initially against volunteering for elimination, but after discussing it with Emily, his viewpoint shifted, leading him to make a similar decision. Unfortunately, this meant both Brad and Emily’s journey on The Challenge came to an abrupt end. He noted:
“I will say this, she’s probably the reason I volunteered, I was dead set on not volunteering, and then after I watched her volunteer and it backfired, at that point, I’m sitting there thinking to myself, ‘This feels like manning up. And now that it feels like manning up, I have to do it.’”
He continued:
“That’s not good gameplay. After she volunteered herself, I remember telling her that I didn’t think it was a good idea.”
Brad further mentioned that he and Emily discussed this situation, highlighting that she recognized her decision to volunteer wasn’t the best choice, to which he replied, “I told you.”
