Despite their current record of 18-56, the Hornets remain in thirteenth place in the Eastern Conference and fourth place in the Southwest Division. In their most recent game, they suffered a 130-118 loss to the LA Clippers on Sunday, which was their second consecutive defeat.
In their previous eight games, they have only achieved one win, resulting in a record of 1-7. As their chances of making it to the playoffs have been eliminated, they are now ineligible to compete in the postseason.

The Journey of LaMelo Ball: From High School Phenom to NBA Star
Despite suffering an ankle injury on Jan. 26, LaMelo Ball has been sidelined and will continue to be out for the rest of the 2023-24 NBA season as the point guard for the Charlotte Hornets.
Ball has been dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered on Nov. 26 in a game against the Orlando Magic. Although he made a brief comeback and played seven games, he has since been forced to sit out again due to the recurring injury.
On Thursday, the Hornets stated that Ball’s season would come to an end due to his ongoing struggle with right ankle tendinopathy. Injuries have plagued the young point guard throughout the season, resulting in him only playing in 22 games.
Despite the Hornets being eliminated from playoff contention, a comeback by Ball at this point in the season would not have had a significant effect on their rankings.
