Borderlands 4 Patch Update: Enhancements and Vault Hunter Buffs
Gearbox Software has unveiled a new patch for Borderlands 4, aimed at addressing issues of performance degradation experienced by some PC players. This latest update introduces an automatic clearing of ‘stale shaders’ whenever players apply a version update, which is expected to enhance game performance significantly. The patch is not just about fixing bugs; it also includes numerous balance tweaks, particularly targeting the abilities of several Vault Hunters, with a special focus on improving Amon’s gameplay experience.
Enhanced Build Diversity for Vault Hunters
The developers expressed their commitment to enhancing build diversity within the game. One of the primary objectives for this patch was to bolster underperforming skills. Amon receives several important adjustments, aligning him more closely with the overall power levels of his fellow Vault Hunters. Additionally, skills related to Vex’s summons and Rafa’s melee fighting have been modified to enhance their viability in the late endgame stages.
Furthermore, Harlowe has received tweaks aimed at ensuring that Stasis abilities prove beneficial for players looking to optimize their strategies.
Future Plans: Investigations and Fixes
Looking ahead, the team at Gearbox is actively analyzing the statistics and behavior of Class Mods, Rep Kits, Shields, and Firmware, with the goal of fostering greater build diversity. They are also addressing various unintended interactions that can undermine the game’s intended challenges, which detract from meaningful player experiences.
Weekly Activity Changes
The current patch also updates the Weekly Activities in Borderlands 4. Notably, the Big Encore Boss has been upgraded to a more formidable version of an existing boss, complete with a better loot pool. This week, players are encouraged to take on the Driller Hole for this activity.
The Weekly Wildcard Missions have received enhancements as well, ensuring players can now earn a guaranteed Legendary drop, allowing for the possibility of obtaining an ‘ideal roll’ on specific loot. This week, the Wildcard Mission highlights Means of Ascent (Deflector, Tricky, Cold Hearted), with the reward being the Star Helix – a Legendary Daedalus Assault Rifle. In addition, the studio shared a teaser revealing Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine’s location.

Nintendo Switch 2 Launch Delay
In a surprising turn of events, Borderlands 4 was meant to launch today on Nintendo Switch 2, but Gearbox announced an indefinite delay, also canceling existing pre-orders as of September 23. Additionally, the studio recently provided insights into the first post-launch Vault Hunter: C4SH. This interesting character, a former casino bot, will center around luck-based abilities, adding to the game’s diversity and excitement.
