To begin the respec process in Borderlands 4, locate a Respec Machine. These machines are strategically positioned across various locations in Kairos and are identifiable by a unique symbol featuring arrows.
You can find these machines at the following locations:
- The Launchpad
- Carcadia
- Belton’s Bore
- The Lockaway
Your first encounter with a respec machine will be at The Launchpad in the Fadefields, which becomes accessible after assisting the Outlanders in defeating The Order early in the game.
Using the character respec machine is straightforward. Approach the machine, and based on your progression, you will see one or two menu options. Regardless of your game level, the option to respec your character’s skills will always be available for a monetary cost.
If you’ve completed the game and have unlocked specializations, a second option will appear that allows you to respec these specializations, but this will cost you Eridium instead of in-game currency. This aspect is important to consider, as the Eridium cost can accumulate rapidly.
Take note that the cost to respec increases as your character levels up, making it significant to plan how often you respec. Regardless of whether you’re adjusting a single skill or all skills, the cost remains unchanged. Thus, even minor tweaks will incur the full respec fee.
After activating the machine, you will enter the respec menu, where all your character’s skills will be displayed.You will be provided with two options: respec a single skill tree or respec all of your skills.
The single skill tree option is particularly advantageous as it allows you to modify specific areas without overhauling your entire character. I personally utilized this feature numerous times when adjusting Harlowe’s build, particularly dissatisfied with her blue skill tree selections.
