Gearbox Software Engages with Borderlands 4 Community: Sales Success and Performance Updates
In a recent announcement, Gearbox Software has officially reached out to the Borderlands community for the first time since the game’s release. The developer expressed gratitude to the millions of players who purchased Borderlands 4, indirectly confirming a report from Alinea Analytics indicating that the game has achieved over two million sales, generating at least $150 million in revenues. Notably, players have engaged in extensive gameplay, looting an impressive 764 million items, traveling a whopping 65 million kilometers, and defeating 55 million bosses, albeit with 7 million defeats recorded.
Addressing Community Concerns
In their communication, Gearbox acknowledged existing concerns surrounding performance issues and game crashes, particularly affecting PC players. The studio has labeled this as their number one priority moving forward.
Feedback and Immediate Action
Gearbox representatives stated, “We’re reading every piece of feedback you share, ”and have already implemented actions to address specific issues. Their immediate focus areas include:
- Performance Enhancements for PC: Recognizing that many PC users are experiencing bugs and crashes, the team has rolled out several updates aimed at improving game stability and performance, with another patch scheduled for release this Thursday.
- Field of View (FOV) Slider for Consoles: A much-requested FOV slider is currently undergoing testing for console versions. The development team has acknowledged performance concerns from some console players and is actively investigating these challenges, promising upcoming updates.
Commitment to Player Experience
Despite previous statements from Gearbox President and CEO Randy Pitchford that seemed to downplay performance issues, the studio is now resolutely focused on delivering ‘an incredible experience’ to players. The launch of Borderlands 4 marks just the beginning of ongoing content, with plans for two Story Packs and four Bounty Packs slated for release within the next year, alongside numerous free updates to enhance the game.
Exclusive SHiFT Code Rewards
In addition to addressing player concerns, Gearbox has released a new SHiFT code allowing players to access exciting in-game items:
- 1 Vault Hunter Skin applicable to Vex, Rafa, Amon, and Harlowe.
- 1 Legendary Ripper Shield, scaling with the Vault Hunter’s level (minimum Level 25) when redeemed through the Reward Center under Equipment.
- 2 ECHO-4 Drone Skins: “Break Free”and “Kn0x”.
