The Arma franchise, renowned for its military simulation and tactical shooting gameplay, last welcomed a primary installment over a decade ago. Arma 3 made its debut in 2013, subsequently receiving multiple updates, expansion packs, and downloadable content until 2021. Now, fans invested in this niche but cherished series are eagerly anticipating Bohemia Interactive’s announcement regarding the next significant release. Unfortunately, they will have to bide their time.
Today marked the studio’s 25th anniversary as a game development entity. During a live-streamed concert, music from the Arma series was shared, culminating in the unveiling of a release timeframe for Arma 4, which is tentatively set for 2027.

Bohemia Interactive first announced its ongoing work on Arma 4 in 2022, alongside the introduction of Arma Reforger, which serves as an early access platform. This provides a sandbox environment that allows the studio to explore a new engine intended for future game development. While Reforger doesn’t encompass the full range of features typical of a mainline Arma title, it prioritizes significant modding capabilities, allowing creators to familiarize themselves with new tools and showcase their talents.
The Arma community has generally expressed relief at receiving a release window for the anticipated game, though many are also vocal about their dissatisfaction regarding the lengthy wait, especially given the extended interval between major installments. Nonetheless, with the introduction of a new engine, players can look forward to enhanced graphics, improved sandbox elements, and potentially smoother gameplay mechanics.
Additionally, Bohemia Interactive is well-known for its development of the intense multiplayer survival game, DayZ. Just this week, an expansion named Frostline was launched, introducing a vast new icy landscape, along with numerous features and enhancements to the game.
