The Blue Exorcist series invokes a sense of nostalgia for many fans, having been serialized since 2009 in Shueisha’s Jump SQ magazine. This captivating manga has become a cherished part of many fans’ teenage years, particularly following its anime adaptation in 2011, which propelled its popularity to new heights.
After a long wait, the second season, which adapted the Kyoto Saga, finally aired in 2017. Both seasons were produced by A-1 Pictures (notably recognized for works like Fairy Tail), though the animation teams differed significantly. For eager fans, the announcement in January 2024 of a third season was thrilling; however, it marked a surprise transition to a new studio, VOLN, with Daisuke Yoshida taking over as director.
Fortunately, fans have not had to endure long gaps between seasons again, as Season 4 commenced in October, exploring the intriguing Beyond the Snow Saga. Now, it’s been confirmed that from January 4, 2025, viewers can look forward to an adaptation of the Blue Night Remembrance arc.

Typically, anime series observe a hiatus during the final week of the year, and Blue Exorcist is no exception. The season will conclude the Beyond Snow Saga with its last episode airing on December 22, followed by a return on January 4 with the debut of the new arc, arriving earlier than anticipated by many fans.
Details on Blue Exorcist Serialization
The upcoming Blue Night Remembrance arc spans volumes 22 to 25 in the original manga. If the anime successfully encompasses this arc in its next cour, it will lead into the ongoing Of One Cloth arc currently being serialized from Chapter 121 (volume 26). Readers can access the latest chapters for free through platforms like Manga Plus and Shonen Jump.
It’s worth noting that the Blue Exorcist manga has encountered several interruptions. Notably, it went on hiatus from July 2021 to May 2022 as the author, Kazue Kato, dedicated time to another project. The manga then experienced another break from January to May 2023, followed by a hiatus later that year due to the author’s battle with COVID-19. Most recently, the series paused again from September to November after Kato’s surgery due to health concerns.
Since Blue Exorcist is published in a monthly format, each hiatus results in only one chapter being delayed. While any break in serialization can be concerning for fans, the health of the creator is paramount, and this measured approach allows Kato to focus on her recovery.
Currently, Blue Exorcist is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
