“Block one more shot”: Nikola Jokic hilariously reveals light-hearted jab towards Victor Wembanyama for 9 rejections
On Tuesday night, Nikola Jokic had the chance to play against one of the NBA’s most promising young stars. The two-time MVP later shared a playful warning he gave to Victor Wembanyama during the game.
Despite his 7-foot-4 stature, Wembanyama has proven to be one of the most dominant rim protectors in the league this season. In the midst of the first quarter, however, Jokic was able to successfully score a dunk over Wembanyama during their encounter at the rim.
Following the game, Nikola Jokic was questioned about his interaction with the star rookie after posterizing him with a dunk. The Denver Nuggets player revealed that he had warned the rookie to refrain from attempting to block his shots, however it had no impact on the outcome.
“I told him if he block one more shot I’m gonna something,”Jokic said postgame. “But he blocked like four after that so I didn’t do anything about it.”
Wembanyama concluded the game with a total of nine blocks, making it his second-highest total in a game this season. In a previous matchup against the Toronto Raptors in February, the rookie from the San Antonio Spurs had recorded 10 blocks.
Nikola Jokic Gets the Last Laugh Over Rising Star Victor Wembanyama
Despite Victor Wembanyama’s multiple blocks on Nikola Jokic’s shots, the Nuggets big man ultimately had the last laugh with an all-around dominant performance, ultimately leading his team to a five-point victory.
Once again this season, Jokic has solidified his spot in the MVP conversation with an impressive performance against the Spurs. Despite playing for 37 minutes, he managed to put up 42 points, 16 rebounds, and six assists. His team was without Jamal Murray, making it crucial for Jokic to step up and he did just that. As a result, the Nuggets secured a 110-105 victory.
Wembanyama took on the challenge of facing off against Nikola Jokic, a top star in the NBA, and he seized the opportunity. In addition to his impressive shot-blocking display, he also made a significant impact in other areas of the game. Although he narrowly missed achieving a quadruple-double, the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year finished with a remarkable box score of 23 points, 15 rebounds, eight assists, and nine blocks.
Jokic and the Nuggets secured a victory, solidifying their lead in the Western Conference standings. Although they currently hold the top spot, the Minnesota Timberwolves and OKC Thunder are close behind. With only a few games remaining, both teams are just half a game behind Denver.
As the playoffs approach, the Nuggets are prepared to defend their championship title. With their strong record and Jokic’s consistent exceptional performance, they have a strong chance of succeeding.
