The Thousand-Year Blood War arc marks the resurgence of the Quincies, a faction believed to have been obliterated by the Shinigami over 200 years prior to the series timeline. Emerging from the shadows, the Wandenreich, now stronger and more perilous, consists of numerous Quincies devoted to the vision of their king, Yhwach. Utilizing his unique ability, Yhwach grants fragments of his own soul to his most potent subordinates, assigning them special abilities derived from the letters he inscribes upon their souls—these are known as Schrifts.
While readers may presume there are 26 Sternritter (one for each letter of the English alphabet), the reality is more complex. Not all Sternritter’s abilities are revealed, leaving several Schrifts unidentified at the conclusion of the Quincy Blood War. This prompts the question: which Schriften remain a mystery by the story’s end?
The Unknown Schrifts Aren’t All Based on Roman Script

Among the 27 Sternritter introduced during the final arc, three remain with undisclosed Schrifts. Notably, Uryū Ishida’s Schrift A is revealed, while the fates of Shaz Domino, BG-9, and Robert Accutrone’s abilities are left uncertain. Notably, Shaz Domino’s designation may overlap with others, or he may lack a Roman letter assignment entirely. BG-9, identified as Sternritter K, engages in battle against Soi-Fon during BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 2 – The Separation, while Robert Accutrone, a long-time member of the Wandenreich, is associated with Schrift N and ultimately succumbs to despair upon Yhwach’s command of Auswählen.

Community theories surrounding BG-9 and Robert’s designations stem from their brief portrayals in combat. For BG-9, who is theorized to embody “The Knowledge,”evidence includes its analytical capabilities demonstrated during its combat with Soi-Fon, where it seemingly attains insight into her abilities via its sharp extensions. Meanwhile, Robert Accutrone’s rapid movements lead fans to suggest his Schrift might pertain to extreme speed, especially given his ability to reappear behind Shunsui Kyoraku, a combatant renowned for his skill.

The Concept of the Eternal Wound
Shaz Domino appears briefly in battle against Akon and members of the 12th Division before rapidly meeting defeat at the hands of Ichigo. However, BLEACH’s novels reveal that Shaz is a product of Gremmy’s imagination tied to the Schrift Ϛ, or Stigma – The Scar. Initially denoted as V – The Viability, Shaz’s existence as a character arises from his ability to assimilate real Reishi, allowing him to manifest physical form through his injuries. This unique Schrift cleverly applies a ligature of the Greek letters sigma (Σ) and tau (Τ), symbolizing the number 6—a significant number in Christianity, denoting the day humanity was created.
Interestingly, this sickle-shaped ligature closely resembles the Hebrew letter lamed (ל), used in the name “Raphael.”The letter lamed corresponds to the number 12, further heightening its significance; like stigma, it is one number short of another significant number, 7, which signifies perfection. In various mythologies, including Norse traditions, the number 13 is regarded as unlucky, adding layers of meaning to his Schrift.
Shaz’s Schrift, Stigma, may be an allusion to “stigmata,”which reflects the wounds suffered by Jesus Christ. The unique Schrift bestowed upon him by Yhwach symbolizes Shaz’s role as an enduring scar within the world of Quincies, hinting at his immortality and perpetual presence. This association may also explain the distinct leopard-like markings present in his design.
