On October 20, 2024, Rosé from BLACKPINK shared insights about her upcoming album titled Rosie in a video featured by Vogue on their official YouTube channel, called ‘Rosé Cooks Kimchi Fried Rice Dinner| Now Serving| Vogue’. In the video, she disclosed that her album was named Rosie due to her friends and family affectionately referring to her as Rosie. She elaborated:
“This album is a reflection of my experiences over the past four years, filled with stories I’ve yet to share. I wanted everyone to feel a deeper connection to me, which is why I chose the name Rosie.”
Rosé from BLACKPINK shared that fans are captivated by her new track APT.
On October 18, 2024, Rosé premiered her eagerly awaited track APT., a collaboration with renowned American artist Bruno Mars. While preparing Kimchi fried rice and somaek in her Vogue vlog, she expressed that her listeners have become enamored with the song.
Rosé explained that APT. originates from a popular Korean drinking game she enjoys with her friends. One day, while spending time with her team in the studio, she suggested teaching them some Korean drinking games. They began playing, and Apateu was the abbreviated term for “apartment.”
She went on to describe how the game unfolded, noting that the next day they felt inspired to create a song. However, when she returned home, Rosé realized her lyrics were centered around the drinking game and asked her producers and songwriters to erase the track from their devices.
Eventually, after some time passed, Rosé encouraged her team to revisit the track, leading to an obsession with APT among them. The final version of the song was completed with the collaborative effort of her producers, songwriters, and fellow artists. Referring to 2024 as the year of her solo debut album, she stated:
“I was born in New Zealand and moved to Australia at eight. I auditioned among 1,000 hopefuls who aspired to become K-pop stars. After four years of training, I debuted with BLACKPINK. Although I’m still part of BLACKPINK, 2024 will be dedicated to my album.”
She mentioned that those who listen to Rosie from beginning to end will probably memorize 80% of the lyrics and might even start calling her Rosie. Rosé revealed a heartfelt moment during her initial meeting about her album, explaining:
“This morning, I had my first in-person meeting discussing the upcoming album. I was taken aback when I found myself in tears. They were happy tears, not sad at all. I felt genuinely joyful.”
Rosé emphasized the personal nature of Rosie and described it as a remarkable journey. She acknowledged the challenges she faced while striving for independence during the songwriting process. The studio environment brought her immense joy, making her feel she was in the right place. She shared:
“I vividly remember my first recording session in the studio. It felt exhilarating, and I knew I wanted to pursue this for the rest of my life. It was like my very own therapeutic experience. I cannot wait for my fans to enjoy my music and feel closer to me, as it truly reflects my personality that my loved ones know.”
Rosie is set to release on December 6, 2024, under The Black Label and Atlantic Records.
