Black Ops 6 on PS4 and Xbox One Will Lack Two Key Features

It is widely acknowledged that Black Ops 6 for PS4 and Xbox One will not provide the optimal gaming experience. Players who joined the Beta tested how developers had to significantly reduce the visual quality to make it playable on last-gen systems. Even with these reductions, the framerate fluctuated considerably, resulting in a subpar overall experience.

Additionally, it’s not just the graphics and framerates that will be negatively affected on last-gen consoles. Call of Duty is eliminating two key features in Black Ops 6 for the PS4 and Xbox One.

Continue reading to discover more about the two notable sacrifices that Treyarch made with Black Ops 6 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Two Key Features Absent from Black Ops 6 on PS4 and Xbox One

The two main features that will not be present in Black Ops 6 for PS4 and Xbox One are Split-Screen gameplay and Theater Mode. Regardless of which last-gen console you possess, including the mid-gen upgraded PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, access to these essential features will be restricted. Conversely, they will still be available on PC and current-gen systems, specifically the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Call of Duty has explicitly stated that they are removing Split-Screen on last-gen consoles to “ensure performance integrity.”This was anticipated, considering that the mode needs to render two perspectives simultaneously. Given the existing difficulties the PS4 and Xbox One face in maintaining stable framerates while rendering a single viewpoint, it is not surprising that compromises are being made.

Theater Mode is subject to the same limitations. While Activision has not officially cited the precise reason for its absence in last-gen systems, it can be speculated that the hardware simply lacks the capability to support this feature. Theater Mode allows players to track their gameplay for later viewing, offering multiple angles and perspectives, as well as the ability to record clips and more.

This additional demand on system resources means that last-gen consoles will experience even more strain if the game is persistently recording in-match events.

With substantial compromises to visual quality, framerates, and the removal of two significant features from Black Ops 6 for PS4 and Xbox One, purchasing the shooter for last-gen consoles is now even less enticing.
