Major Update for Black Myth: Wukong Released by Game Science

Game Science has officially launched a significant new update for Black Myth: Wukong, introducing a variety of enhancements focused on performance, upscaling technology, and bug resolutions. However, PlayStation 5 users should prepare for an almost complete reinstall of the game due to the scale of these improvements.

New Features for PC Players

For those gaming on PC, one of the standout features of this update is the integration of AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4). This cutting-edge upscaling technology enables users with Radeon RX 9000 series graphics cards to take full advantage of improved visual fidelity after updating to the most recent drivers. Additionally, the Compatible Mode has received enhancements, allowing players to disable options such as ray tracing, frame generation, and super resolution. This feature aims to mitigate startup issues that some users may encounter.

Graphics Improvements

The update brings notable upgrades to the Global Illumination settings, with the Low option now offering visuals that are markedly closer to the High setting. Moreover, the default graphics settings have been refreshed, ensuring they align with all the optimizations introduced since the game’s initial release. To prevent potential complications with the update, players are advised to uninstall any user modifications before proceeding.

Enhanced Performance on PlayStation 5

PlayStation 5 players can also expect several performance boosts. The latest update introduces enhanced loading speeds, improved CPU and rendering performance, refined motion blur quality, and decreased input latency, particularly in Performance Mode. However, players should be aware that this update is sizable due to the extensive performance optimizations involved.

“The performance optimization this time involves a considerable number of underlying changes, which results in a relatively larger patch size, ”the studio noted. In case of any update failures related to insufficient storage, it is recommended to redownload the game entirely.

Current Update Version and Future Prospects

The update brings Black Myth: Wukong to version 1.0.20.21756 on PlayStation 5, with updates for other platforms expected to follow shortly. Players can access the complete patch notes here.

As Game Science continues to evolve the action title, it’s worth noting that they recently announced a sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, featuring a new protagonist. For more information about this upcoming entry, be sure to stay tuned.
