Paul Walter Hauser Joins Resident Evil Film Directed by Zach Creggar
Actor Paul Walter Hauser, widely recognized for his role in the Apple TV+ series Black Bird, is set to star in the upcoming Resident Evil movie directed by Zach Creggar. As reported by Deadline, Creggar co-authored the script alongside Shay Hatten, known for his work on the John Wick franchise. Following his recent success with the film Weapons, this project marks Creggar’s continued foray into the action-horror genre.
Initial Cast Announcements
Hauser becomes the second actor confirmed for the movie, joining Austin Abrams, known for his role in the series Wolfs, who was reported to participate earlier this year. The film is scheduled for release on September 18, 2026. While details surrounding the plot remain scarce, fans are eager to learn more about the cast and story direction.
A Fresh Take on Resident Evil
In a recent interview with Inverse, Creggar shared insights about the film’s narrative. Notably, he emphasized that the story will not revolve around iconic character Leon Kennedy. Instead, Creggar aims to craft a unique tale that pays homage to the rich lore of the Resident Evil universe.
“It is obedient to the lore of the games; it’s just a different story. I’m not going to tell Leon’s story because Leon’s story is told in the games.[Fans] already have that.”
“Let me say this: this is not breaking the rules of the games. I am the biggest worshiper of the games, so I’m telling a story that is a love letter to the games and follows the rules of the games.”
What’s Next for Resident Evil Fans?
As anticipation builds for Creggar’s film, Resident Evil enthusiasts can also look forward to Resident Evil Requiem, which is set to premiere on February 27, 2026. This upcoming release promises to enrich the franchise further while fans await the fresh narrative that Creggar is developing.
