Bills WR Stefon Diggs ignites social media controversy with potential dig at Josh Allen
Is Stefon Diggs once again expressing disapproval towards Josh Allen?
Despite consecutive Divisional Round defeats to the Cincinnati Bengals and Kansas City Chiefs over the past three seasons, the relationship between the Buffalo Bills’ two biggest stars has been plagued by rumors of a rift.
When Robert Griffin III brought it up once more on RGIII and the Ones, a fan argued that Diggs was not crucial to Allen’s achievements.
The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver simply shrugged, implying that he held more significance than was initially believed.
Is a trade looming for Stefon Diggs as tensions with Josh Allen resurface?
It is difficult to accurately assess the dynamic between Stefon Diggs and Josh Allen. After a significant victory, they may publicly praise each other, but following a major defeat, media sources may spread rumors of a strained relationship. These rumors often lead to speculation of a potential trade.
According to Jeff Darlington’s appearance on Get Up last month, he believes that general manager Brandon Beane’s preference would be to persuade their star receiver to accept a reduction in pay, particularly now that the $18-million guarantee has been activated.
“If they were to get rid of Stefon Diggs, if they couldn’t rework his contract, it would require a trade,”Darlington said. “But there’s also a belief that they can get to a place with Diggs that they can get a restructured contract to still keep him in Buffalo and still keep him happy.”
As the trade talks continue, the list of potential destinations for Diggs is dwindling. In the midst of last season, the following teams were considered as potential landing spots:
- Carolina Panthers
- Detroit Lions
- Dallas Cowboys
- Houston Texans
- Kansas City Chiefs
As for the Panthers and Chiefs, they have both taken steps to strengthen their wide receiver units by acquiring Diontae Johnson and signing Marquise Brown, respectively. This takes them out of consideration.
Despite releasing Michael Gallup, the Cowboys have yet to make any significant moves to fill the void he left. This suggests that they may be planning to keep CeeDee Lamb on board, especially since he is entering the final year of his current contract.
The Lions have recently extended the contract of Donovan Peoples-Jones, whom they acquired in a midseason trade. He is set to join forces with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and tight end Sam LaPorta, creating a formidable quartet. Meanwhile, the Texans still possess the dynamic duo of Nico Collins and Tank Dell (once he recovers from his leg injury), along with tight end Dalton Schultz.
