The highly anticipated reality series *Love is Blind Habibi* made its debut on Netflix on October 10. This season focuses on singles from the Arab community, guiding them in forming connections that transcend mere physical attraction.
Among the featured couples, Hajar and Simo stood out as one of four pairs who became engaged after developing their relationship in the pods. They, along with the other couples, embarked on a vacation to deepen their understanding of potential life partners.
On their first outing during the trip, they engaged in a conversation about their future following marriage, including their plans for a shared home. Hajar probed Simo about his interests, to which he admitted he didn’t have a particular passion.
In response, Hajar playfully suggested that perhaps she could become his passion. However, Simo’s ambiguous response prompted Hajar to remark:
“You have a big ego.”
Exploring Different Views: Hajar and Simo’s Tension on *Love is Blind Habibi*
In episode four, after their engagement, Hajar and Simo met again in their holiday paradise. Simo queried Hajar about her readiness for marriage, prompting her to express that before making such a significant commitment, she needed to truly understand her fiancé.
The couple faced a disagreement regarding their preferred living arrangements post-marriage. Simo indicated that his family business in Morocco was where he belonged, while Hajar felt a strong connection to Dubai, believing that relocating to Morocco would jeopardize her independence.
Simo argued that true freedom involved being close to family. He elaborated:
“If my business and everything my father and grandfather built is in Morocco, what could I possibly do in Dubai? Start an ice cream shop?”
Simo also mentioned in a private reflection that they had “some divergent views on various matters.”Nevertheless, he recognized that differing opinions did not detract from Hajar’s character.
Later during their outing, Simo confronted Hajar regarding her treatment of a waitress, criticizing her for displaying disrespect due to a delayed order. He expressed that her behavior was unacceptable, particularly in front of him.
“Why did you talk to that poor girl like that? That was inappropriate. You shouldn’t have acted that way in my presence. I’m leaving the restaurant,”Simo told her.
Hajar, however, argued that his reaction was excessive and felt that as her partner, he should have supported her. Simo remained steadfast, asserting he could not condone disrespectful behavior.
Hajar addressed her actions by admitting to occasionally being blunt. She justified her response by stating that the waitress’s tardiness warranted her frustration. Simo, reflecting on her behavior in his confessional, questioned:
“Is your approach really to say something hurtful if you have nothing positive to express?”
Feeling dissatisfied with how things unfolded, Simo told Hajar he wasn’t comfortable with the situation and chose to walk away from the date. Following their outing, Hajar remarked on their contrasting traits that could either drive them apart or bring them closer together:
“My personality can be challenging for him, and he has traits that challenge me too. We might either drive each other crazy or fall deeply in love.”
