Big Brother Season 26 Contestant Rubina Reflects on Her Elimination: “Wouldn’t Change It for Anything”
The latest installment of Big Brother, season 26, episode 37, premiered on CBS on October 10 at 8:00 PM ET/PT. This episode culminated in the eviction of Rubina Bernabe, a decision rendered by her fellow houseguest, Makensy Manbeck.
Rubina, a 35-year-old event bartender from Los Angeles, became the thirteenth player to be eliminated and joined the jury as its sixth member. Following her departure, the final three contestants, Makensy Manbeck, Chelsie Baham, and Cam Sullivan-Brown, are set to compete in the finale scheduled for Sunday, October 13.
As she left the Big Brother house, Rubina expressed her heartfelt thanks to the show’s host, Julie Chen Moonves, emphasizing her appreciation for the incredible experience. She stated:
“I feel humbled, blessed, and grateful to have made it this far. It’s truly shocking. This is an unmatched experience. I’ve encountered so much, and this tops them all. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Rubina Reflects on Her Big Brother Journey
Looking back on her experiences within the Big Brother house, Rubina opened up about her budding romance with Tucker Des Lauriers. She mentioned that after Tucker’s eviction, the fear of becoming a target lingered in her mind.
Contrary to her worries, she managed to maintain a solid foothold in the game right until the end. Rubina shared that Tucker’s departure shifted her focus back to strategy rather than navigating personal relationships. She commented:
“I just hope there’s a chance for something to develop. I have no expectations, but after four long years of being single, it was really wonderful to form that bond.”
The evicted houseguest expressed her desire for the remaining women to contend in the upcoming finale. In her efforts to persuade Makensy to spare her, Rubina had promised that she would choose Makensy to be in the final two if she emerged victorious in the final Head of Household challenge. Regarding their bond, she remarked:
“I’m not intimidated by sitting next to another strong, remarkable woman; I definitely support women supporting women. I’ve built a strong connection with her throughout this game. I feel a deeper connection with Makensy than with Chelsie, even if that’s not the conventional way to play.”
As her exit interview progressed, Rubina admitted she sensed her eviction was imminent. Though she hoped to secure a spot in the finale alongside Makensy and Chelsie, her hopes were dashed. She explained:
“[Makensy] mentioned earlier that they had agreed upon a final three. There was a sense of alignment during the last five. I started to feel like it may be me next even though I truly wanted three women at the end.”
