Big Brother Fans Divided Over Kimo’s Elimination: “Thank You God”

After a brief pause, season 26 of Big Brother aired its latest episode on Thursday, October 3, 2024. This episode featured the highly anticipated BB Comics Power of Veto (PoV) competition and ceremony, followed by the live eviction.

The current Head of Household (HoH), Makensy, had nominated Kimo and Rubina for elimination, targeting Kimo because she believed he was the least likely to take her to the end of the game should he have the opportunity. Consequently, she opted to prioritize her own gameplay. Makensy ultimately won the Power of Veto but chose not to use it, which left both Kimo and Rubina in jeopardy.

After extensive discussions among Chelsie, Cam, and Makensy, the houseguests ultimately turned against Kimo. They reasoned that he posed a greater risk of winning competitions in the later stages of the show. With two votes cast against him, Kimo was evicted from the Big Brother house.

Kimo’s eviction sparked debate across social media. While some fans expressed their disappointment on X (formerly Twitter), others reveled in his departure.

“didn’t watch the episode but very relieved to see Kimo was evicted THANK YOU GOD,”a fan wrote.

“Surprised Kimo got evicted. Thought he was staying. He seems like a lovely person. I’m so glad he got to live out his dream,”another fan commented.

Many Big Brother enthusiasts were saddened to see Kimo go and were surprised that Cam and Chelsie pivoted against him, despite previously viewing him as a potential ally.

“rip Kimo i’m so proud of u for making f5!!!<3,”a user reacted.

“Aww Kimo!! Such a gentle soul. So glad I got to watch him on feeds. Unbothered theater king,”one person commented.

“Funny, sweet, brilliant…I wish you had clocked in just a bit more because when you played, you were IMPRESSIVE & it would have been incredible to see the first gay Native Hawaiian winner of BB. I’m devastated to see you go but you made your mark on the house!!! ILY KIMOOO,”another fan wrote.

“Kimo evicted but Rubina staying, I’m a mix of emotions,”a user tweeted.

Conversely, numerous fans expressed satisfaction with the eviction outcome.

“FINALLY I WAITED ALL SEASON FOR KIMO TO LEAVE,”a person reacted.

“Kimo FINALLY out of the house. A very delightful person, but between the burps, slurping, smacking, and shady comments undermining Tucker/Rubina’s relationship, his actions and inactions while crushing on a straight man… I’ve been ready for him to leave since week 3,”a netizen tweeted.

“I’m so relieved Chelsie changed her mind and decided to get rid of Kimo because the jury was praising him a little too much for my liking, and a final 2 between them very well could’ve been a toss-up,”another netizen commented.

Kimo Expresses Support for Fellow Big Brother Contestants

In this episode, Cam, Chelsie, and Makensy debated Kimo’s potential impact on their games. While Makensy was determined to see him evicted, Chelsie and Cam had different opinions. During her campaign, Rubina urged the others to keep her so that the final three could be solely women, a proposal that impressed Makensy but made Chelsie doubtful.

Meanwhile, Kimo lobbied to Cam for his safety, almost convincing him that if Rubina were sent packing, he would consider Cam as a final two partner. However, during discussions with Chelsie, Kimo portrayed Makensy as a threat and offered himself as a shield for her. Ultimately, Cam and Chelsie agreed that keeping Kimo would be more advantageous than retaining Rubina.

Nevertheless, when the Big Brother HoH indicated that Kimo excelled in challenges, both Cam and Chelsie changed their votes, resulting in Kimo’s elimination. He became the fifth jury member, joining Angela, Leah, T’Kor, and Quinn.

In his exit interview with host Julie Chen Moonves, Kimo remarked that it was a “tough choice either way.”

“I am so happy that Rubina stayed and is able to continue on. I’m rooting for her, I’m rooting for everyone,”Kimo stated.

He expressed gratitude for his time on the show, mentioning that Julie was “one of the first people”he could relate to on television. Interacting with her was a “special”experience, and he thanked everyone while expressing excitement to see who would ultimately win.

Big Brother season 26 airs Sundays and Thursdays on CBS.
