Big Brother 26 Finale Recap: Three HoH Competitions and Ainsley’s Elimination Decide the Season’s Champion

The highly anticipated conclusion of Big Brother 26 aired on October 13, 2024, at 9 PM ET, showcasing the final three houseguests vying for the grand prize of $750,000. The finalists—Cam Sullivan-Brown, Chelsie Baham, and Makensy Manbeck—competed fiercely in three pivotal Head of Household (HoH) competitions, with former champion Taylor Hale facilitating the jury discussions.

In a pivotal moment, Makensy secured the final Power of Veto, ensuring her safety by removing her name from contention for eviction. She cast the decisive vote to send Rubina home, allowing Chelsie, the HoH victor, and Cam to join her as the last contestants standing.

The trio endured an intense 90-day stay in the Big Brother house, overcoming numerous challenges, including outsmarting Ainsley, the AI contestant, and spending time in the whimsical Jankie World. Notably, the Power of Veto was activated a record 12 times during the season.

Highlights from the Big Brother 26 Finale

The finale commenced with the three finalists engaging in the initial HoH competition of the night. They confronted tilted, suspended robotic devices that showered them in cold green goo. After 26 minutes, the discomfort forced Makensy to withdraw.

Cam lasted slightly longer, dropping out after 37 minutes, which enabled Chelsie to claim victory in the first round of HoH. Therefore, Chelsie automatically progressed to the final part, while Makensy and Cam prepared to compete in the second round.

The second segment required Makensy and Cam to navigate a maze, aiming to connect three buttons to wires to disable Ainsley’s AI brain permanently. Makensy efficiently completed the challenge, whereas Cam was only managing to detach the third button.

Consequently, the final HoH showdown pitted Makensy against Chelsie, where they would battle for the crucial power to cast the determining eviction vote. Prior to this, the jury welcomed Rubina as their sixth member.

The jury was unsurprised to see Chelsie and Makensy’s continued success in the competitions.

In the decisive third part of the HoH competition, Chelsie and Makensy tackled several multiple-choice questions, which were based on truthful and false claims made by jury members.

The competition was neck-and-neck until Chelsie misjudged Rubina’s statement. In contrast, Makensy answered all questions correctly, securing her the authority to eliminate a fellow houseguest.

In their final plea, Chelsie argued for an all-female final two, appealing to Makensy’s aspirations, while Cam acknowledged her gameplay. Ultimately, Makensy opted to evict Cam, opting to compete alongside Chelsie in the final stage. In his exit interview, Cam expressed that he was not taken aback by the decision.

Upon Cam’s arrival at the jury, the jurors placed their inquiries to both finalists. Chelsie shared her strategy of maintaining a low profile and making strategic moves when necessary. She highlighted her influence in securing Leah’s position on the eviction block on two separate occasions and emphasized her adept social skills that kept her safe.

Conversely, Makensy credited her decision to evict Leah to her own judgement, asserting her loyalty to Chelsie, her final ally. She further asserted her significant play by eliminating Tucker during the AI Arena challenge, which paved the way for her advance in the game.

Finally, host Julie Chen Moonves announced the jury votes, revealing a unanimous decision in favor of Chelsie, who received all 7 votes: Quinn, T’Kor, Leah, Angela, Kimo, Rubina, and Cam. This marked a historic victory.

In an additional highlight, Julie unveiled the winner of America’s Favorite Player, awarded to Tucker—an unprecedented win for a non-finalist and non-juror in Big Brother history.
