A viral conspiracy theory has emerged online, suggesting that Beyoncé is somehow linked to Wendy Williams’ recent struggles with dementia and aphasia. In 2023, Wendy Williams was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia alongside progressive aphasia.
Aphasia is a medical term referring to a disorder that impairs an individual’s ability to communicate through speaking, writing, or understanding language, as explained by the Mayo Clinic. This condition can arise from strokes or traumatic brain injuries and can sometimes progress to dementia.
The Alzheimer’s Association elaborates that frontotemporal dementia is a degenerative condition impacting the frontal and temporal lobes’ nerve cells, resulting in the loss of functions in those brain areas, which influences motor skills and overall movement.
In 2011, Wendy Williams stirred controversy by asserting on her talk show that Beyoncé was sporting a fake baby bump. The former talk show host presented clips from an Australian program where the pop star’s apparent baby bump looked misshapen and distorted beneath her clothing.
“What is that? Is that a baby bump? I don’t know,”Williams remarked.
Williams shared that, during her own pregnancy, she felt unable to mimic Beyoncé’s lounging posture due to concerns for her back and her baby. A recent video on X, posted by user @BGatesIsaPyscho, suggested a connection between Wendy’s dementia and her previous comments about Beyoncé’s pregnancy. The video contained the caption:
“What happens after messing with Beyoncé and Jay-Z.”
Notably, Williams received her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in 2023—twelve years after she made those remarks regarding Beyoncé’s baby bump during her show in 2011.
Wendy Williams Criticizes Beyoncé’s Oscar Oversight for The Lion King
Wendy Williams voiced her displeasure over Beyoncé’s omission from the 2020 Oscar nominations for her role in The Lion King. In July 2019, Beyoncé provided the voice for Nala in Disney’s live-action remake of the beloved 1994 animated classic.
Directed by Jon Favreau, this successful film featured stars such as Donald Glover, Alfre Woodard, Seth Rogen, Eric André, Keegan-Michael Key, JD McCrary, James Earl Jones, Billy Eichner, and, of course, Beyoncé.
With a staggering box office gross of $1.6 billion, the film shattered numerous records, ranking as the highest-grossing animated film in history and the seventh highest-grossing film overall.
Despite her significant contribution to the film, Beyoncé didn’t receive an Oscar nomination, which Wendy highlighted during her talk show on January 13, 2020. She expressed frustration at the oversight, stating:
“Her and JAY-Z are probably like, ‘How dare these people.’ Beyoncé, they’re jealous of you too.”
Additionally, although Beyoncé’s song “Spirit”from the film was praised, it too failed to secure a nomination for Best Original Song.
In that same episode, Wendy Williams pointed out that Jennifer Lopez was also overlooked for her acclaimed performance in the 2019 film Hustlers, missing out on an Oscar nod for Best Supporting Actress.
