Bethesda Extends Support to Skyblivion Mod Team with Special Visit
In a recent gesture of encouragement, Bethesda has welcomed the Skyblivion mod development team to their headquarters located in Rockville, Maryland. This invitation allowed the team to tour the prestigious studio and interact with some of the company’s top developers, including the well-known Todd Howard. The Skyblivion team took to X to share highlights from their visit, showcasing numerous photographs from the studio and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to meet the creators behind beloved game franchises.
“Thank you to our friends at Bethesda Studios for having us over and showing us around!”the post states.“Meeting the legendary people behind some of our favorite games was incredible and was only matched by their shared enthusiasm for Skyblivion and the modding community.”
This visit marks a continuation of Bethesda’s support for the Skyblivion project, which notably included the gift of game keys for the recently released Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered to the entire mod team. This gesture reflects Bethesda’s commitment to fan-driven projects and their appreciation for the modding community.
What is Skyblivion?
For those unfamiliar, Skyblivion is an ambitious total conversion mod that aims to recreate The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within the engine of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Having been in development for over eight years, this project is set to release in 2025. Initially, players can expect the core Oblivion game, with additional content from the DLCs scheduled for release at a later date.
Team lead Rebelzize commented on the initiative, stating:
“For the community, it is a win-win as you get twice the amount of Oblivion this year. All love and no hate towards the people who made the official remaster.”
Rebelzize further expressed excitement about the different vision presented in the Skyblivion project, stating:
“It looks like a cool take on it and is totally different from what my vision was. Looking forward to trying it myself. Luckily, this thing [Skyblivion] was all about passion from the start, and it still is. I’ve gained more from this than I ever imagined: friends, experience, and it made me realize I wanted to work in the gaming industry, which I ended up doing. At the end of the day, it only exists because Bethesda allowed it, so I guess if the official remake is real, it’s good that we were still allowed to exist at all.”
As the modding community eagerly anticipates the release of Skyblivion, Bethesda’s ongoing support highlights the importance of collaboration and appreciation within the gaming industry.
