“Best player on the planet” – John McEnroe’s brother Patrick, Carlos Alcaraz, Hubert Hurkacz & others congratulate Jannik Sinner on Miami Open triumph
Jannik Sinner was congratulated on his victory at the 2024 Miami Open by Carlos Alcaraz, Patrick McEnroe (brother of John McEnroe), Hubert Hurkacz, and several other players.
Sinner secured his third title of the season by defeating Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 6-1 in the final of the ATP 1000 tournament. This triumph adds to his previous victories at the 2024 Australian Open, where he won his first Grand Slam title, and the Rotterdam Open.
Following this victory, the 22-year-old reached a new career high of World No. 2 ranking and became the first Italian to secure multiple Masters 1000 titles. Additionally, he extended his lead as the Italian with the most tour-level trophies in the Open Era to 13.
After his victory, Jannik Sinner turned to social media and posted a picture of himself hoisting the Miami Open trophy, expressing that his triumph in Florida held a significant meaning to him.
“It’s the good time. Thank you Miami! Winning here is special. Let’s go! #13,”Sinner captioned his Instagram post.
After Sinner won the title, many tennis players expressed their congratulations to the Italian through social media.
Patrick, the brother of John McEnroe, commended Jannik Sinner’s recent performances and declared him the unmatched “best player”in the world over the past six months.
“In the last 6 months….@janniksin is the best player on the planet……and it’s not close,”Patrick posted on X (formerly Twitter).
In addition to Carlos Alcaraz and Barbara Schett Eagle, fellow countrymen Fabio Fognini and Andreas Seppi took to social media to share their well wishes with 22-year-old Sinner.

Hubert Hurkacz, despite being eliminated by Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round of the Miami tournament, praised the impressive performances of both Dimitrov and Jannik Sinner throughout the competition.

Brad Gilbert, the former coach of Andre Agassi, acknowledged that the Italian player’s current performance indicates that he could potentially become the top-ranked player in the world in the future.

Jannik Sinner Reflects on His Strong Start to the Season
During the press conference held after his win against Grigor Dimitrov in the 2024 Miami Open final, Jannik Sinner declared that this season has been his most successful one so far.
“I started the season really, really well. I never thought to start it like this. But it also means that I stay in this moment. You know, whatever happened happened already, and every tournament where you go, you have a new opportunity,”Jannik Sinner said.
Sinner mentioned that he is supported by an incredible team who consistently motivates him to strive for progress.
Now that the hard-court season has ended, the Italian stated that he will shift his focus towards preparing for the upcoming clay-court swing. This is a surface where he has previously encountered difficulties.
“I have a great team behind me who pushes me. We know what we have to improve. Now the clay season is coming, so usually I struggle there. So let’s see what I can do this year,”he added.
