Best Minecraft Armor Trim Combo: Netherite Armor with Resin Clumps

Mojang Studios has just introduced a new crafting material, resin, in the Pale Gardens as part of the anticipated Minecraft Winter update. Although this addition wasn’t teased at the developers’ annual showcase in September 2024, it has been featured in the latest beta version: 1.21.50.25. When applied, resin gives an orange hue to any chosen armor trim.

Due to its vibrant color, resin pairs exceptionally well with netherite armor sets, creating striking combinations for players. This article delves deeper into this topic.

Why netherite armor and resin hues are the ultimate trim pairing in Minecraft

Netherite armor is recognized for providing the highest level of defense since netherite is the most robust material available for crafting armor. Thus, it’s not surprising that many players will aim to obtain a complete set.

On the other hand, armor trims are smithing templates available in various locations, so you are likely to collect several. The crucial item you’ll be after when the Winter update launches is resin.

One of the key reasons resin significantly enhances the look of netherite armor is its appealing color and straightforward access. When applied, resin produces shades of light and dark orange, resembling the aesthetic of flowing lava.

Applying resin along with an armor trim to any armor piece gives it the appearance of glowing lava coursing through it, enhancing its visual appeal.

Additionally, netherite is an ideal choice for this effect, as it is an endgame material characterized by a nearly black appearance. There’s also a thematic link between netherite and lava, as it is exclusively found deep within the Nether, an environment abundant in lava flows. This lava-themed design is fitting since netherite is fire-resistant and won’t burn in lava.

The initial step in obtaining resin is to locate it in Minecraft. This newly introduced item can only be harvested at night within the Pale Gardens. Players must repeatedly strike the Creaking creature when it appears at night. This mob will extract energy from its heart block, which is located underground within the pale oak trees.

Once the Creaking draws energy, the heart block produces resin clumps that you can find on nearby log blocks. You can collect these clumps by hand or using any tool.

After securing resin clumps, you can utilize them to tint any armor set with the armor trim of your choice via the smithing table. Simply place the selected armor piece, one resin clump, and the desired armor trim template on the table.

The orange design from the armor trims will then be applied to your armor piece, and a preview will show up in the smithing table’s interface. Afterward, you can retrieve and equip your newly adorned armor.
