Battlefield’s Free-to-Play Battle Royale Launches with 100-Player Matches

EA Unveils Battlefield REDSEC: A New Battle Royale Experience

Electronic Arts has officially launched its latest gaming venture, Battlefield REDSEC, following a concise teaser period. This new offering presents an exhilarating 100-player battle royale mode, supplemented by the competitive squad-based experience known as Gauntlet, along with access to the Portal feature. Best of all, this expansive package is available as a free-to-play title.

Exploring the Massive Arena: Fort Lyndon

At the heart of REDSEC lies Fort Lyndon, the largest arena ever designed in the Battlefield franchise. Players parachute into this expansive map and form four-player squads, competing until only one team remains. This thrilling gameplay is elevated by the series’ hallmark, pioneering destruction mechanics. True to the essence of Battlefield 6, players can expect an environment where everything—from lightweight walls to robust buildings—can be shattered.

Dynamic Engagements Across the Battlefield

According to Battlefield Studios, the map has been meticulously crafted to facilitate a variety of combat scenarios, ranging from intense close-quarters battles to strategic long-range vehicular confrontations. Players can explore nine significant points of interest on the map, which guarantee high-quality loot, alongside 16 additional locations brimming with gear and potential skirmishes.

Gameplay Mechanics and Features

As a standard feature in battle royale games, the arena will gradually shrink, eventually enveloping the area in a deadly ring of fire designed to eliminate any players caught outside the safe zone. While players can personalize their characters by choosing various classes, looting will play a critical role in unlocking additional abilities, gadgets, and support items, giving them the advantage they need to secure victory.

Byron Beede, the General Manager of Battlefield, expressed excitement about the launch: “The next chapter of our Battlefield universe launches today with Battlefield REDSEC, our new experience that includes Battle Royale crafted with the series’ explosive DNA, our cutthroat squad competition mode Gauntlet, and even new ways for our community to build and experience Portal. REDSEC encompasses everything fans adore about Battlefield—destruction, intense combat, and vehicular carnage—all in a vast playspace that’s accessible for all.”

In addition to the battle royale mode, REDSEC introduces players to Gauntlet, an engaging standard objective-based mode comprising eight squads. Here, players can respawn multiple times across several rounds to achieve their objectives.
