Controversy Surrounds Battlefield 6 Credits
Recent developments have ignited a controversy regarding the credits for the highly anticipated Battlefield 6. The uproar began when Marcus Lehto, a prominent former designer from the Halo series and general manager of Ridgeline Games, made a significant announcement via LinkedIn.
Concerns About Acknowledgment for Developers
Lehto expressed his discontent over the omission of numerous developers from the credits, highlighting that these talented individuals dedicated 1 to 2.5 years to laying the groundwork for Battlefield 6. His LinkedIn post notes that despite their extensive contributions, many employees who were eventually laid off received minimal acknowledgment— relegated to a “Special Thanks” section, and notably, some were left entirely uncredited, himself included.
A Call for Proper Recognition
Out of respect for these developers and in recognition of their hard work, Lehto made it a point to list their names, conveying how he believed they should have been credited. This bold move aims to ensure that their contributions don’t go unnoticed despite the studio’s tumultuous journey.

The Rise and Fall of Ridgeline Games
Founded in late 2021, Ridgeline Games was born out of a significant overhaul in the Battlefield franchise, following the mixed reception of Battlefield 2042. This restructuring included the appointment of Vince Zampella from Respawn Entertainment as the new head of the franchise. Initially, it was revealed that both DICE and Ridgeline Games would collaborate on the single-player campaign for Battlefield 6. Unfortunately, the studio faced challenges and was closed down in 2022.
The Silver Lining: A Successful Release
Despite the challenges faced by Ridgeline Games, the final release of Battlefield 6 turned out to be a major success, garnering impressive sales and acclaim. This outcome underscores the resilience of the team members involved, and their hard work has been pivotal in delivering what many consider to be a standout installment in the Battlefield series.
As Lehto’s revelations continue to gain traction, there’s a renewed focus on the plight of game developers and the importance of proper acknowledgment in an industry that often overlooks their contributions.
