Numerous evaluations are underway to uncover the performance capabilities of leading CPUs, and a recent analysis by a well-regarded benchmark channel has provided some enlightening results.
Game Benchmarks Showcase Ryzen 9800X3D’s Superiority in Battlefield 6; 40% More Efficiency at 4K with Minimal Difference
Following our initial findings, which indicated the Ryzen 9800X3D surpasses the Intel Core i9 14900K in Battlefield 6 performance, a multitude of benchmarks have emerged, analyzing the strengths of these two dominant gaming CPUs. One of the challenges in making apples-to-apples comparisons is obtaining consistent performance metrics across identical scenes—something currently complicated by the open Beta mode, which doesn’t allow players to select specific maps.
Despite this limitation, the Testing Games team meticulously crafted comparable scenarios to pit the processors against each other, a process that required considerable effort. The most revealing results appeared at 1080p resolution, a critical threshold for gauging which CPU reaches its performance limit first. Utilizing the GeForce RTX 5090, this analysis clearly demonstrates that Battlefield 6 is heavily reliant on CPU performance at lower resolutions, with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D achieving approximately 29% better performance than the i9 14900K.

Under Ultra settings, the Ryzen 9800X3D excels in managing Battlefield 6, revealing a substantial edge while consuming nearly 40% less power compared to its Intel counterpart. The outcome of the testing also showed impressive frame consistency, highlighted by solid 1% and 0.1% lows. The GPU utilization peaked at 80-90% with the Ryzen 9800X3D while hovering just over 70% with the i9 14900K. In varied scenes, while the performance gap diminished to roughly 25%, the Ryzen 9800X3D consistently demonstrated its superiority over the Intel CPU.

When upgrading the resolution to 1440p at Ultra settings, the Ryzen 9800X3D only outpaced the i9 14900K by 12%.The performance metrics for 1% and 0.1% lows were comparable, with GPU usage exceeding 90% for both CPUs. Interestingly, the Ryzen 9800X3D maintained its impressive power efficiency, consuming 40% less energy than the i9 14900K. In another scene, the performance disparity increased, showcasing up to 23% better frame rates alongside slightly improved 1% and 0.1% lows.

At 4K resolution, the differences in performance between the two CPUs become less pronounced, reflecting a shift away from CPU reliance and a greater demand for GPU power to enhance frame rates. The Ryzen 9800X3D edges out the i9 14900K by a mere 3-7%, with power consumption remaining around 100-110W for the 9800X3D compared to the i9 14900K’s drop from nearly 170-180W to 150-160W. Ultimately, these results clearly indicate that the Ryzen 9800X3D outperforms the 14900K, particularly at 1080p, with differences reaching as high as 30%.
Performance Comparison: Ryzen 7 9800X3D vs. Core i9 14900K Using GeForce RTX 5090
