Baldur’s Gate 3 Guide: Obtaining the Gleamdance Dagger

Baldur’s Gate 3 offers an extensive array of magical items to discover. However, as is common in many role-playing games (RPGs), it can be quite challenging to collect all the items in a single playthrough.

For those aspiring to acquire the finest magical artifacts, a comprehensive exploration and some unexpected confrontations with NPCs are essential, as these characters often possess the coveted items.

One notable artifact is the Gleamdance Dagger. In the following sections, we will explore how to obtain this powerful weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3.

As you approach the docks, you will inadvertently become involved in a conflict between Farlin’s crew and rival smugglers. During this encounter, Farlin and their allies will be temporarily marked as friendly, helping you avoid friendly fire.

Once the battle concludes, you will have a chance to engage in conversation with Farlin. It is recommended to refrain from attacking immediately. Instead, if you choose to assist Farlin in the ongoing conflict, you will be rewarded with a substantial sum of gold, which can undoubtedly be beneficial as you progress in the game.

After the conversation, follow Farlin and their crew back to their ship. At this point, you can attack them to loot their belongings. The Gleamdance Dagger will be in Farlin’s inventory once they have been defeated.

Similar to other NPCs like Gish Far’aag, who possesses the Ring of Arcane Synergy, the only way to acquire the Gleamdance Dagger is by defeating Farlin. Attempting to pickpocket them will yield only minor items, confirming that combat is the sole method for obtaining this coveted weapon.

Stats and Utility of the Gleamdance Dagger

The Gleamdance Dagger is classified as an off-hand weapon, requiring it to be equipped in a character’s off-hand to harness its full potential. When wielded in this manner, it grants a +1 bonus to armor class and emits a constant light in a 6-meter radius, making it particularly useful for illuminating dark areas.

This illumination is advantageous for characters lacking Darkvision. However, the dagger’s true appeal lies in its armor class bonus, which benefits characters such as Bards, Rogues, and Bladesinger Wizards.

Rogues, in particular, can maximize the potential of this weapon due to their expertise in dual-wielding. Bards who prefer to dual-wield will also find value in the Gleamdance, though they may prioritize a rapier or another finesse weapon in their primary hand.
