Baldur’s Gate 3 boasts an extensive array of magical items that players can discover throughout their gaming journey. However, akin to many role-playing games, acquiring every item in a single playthrough can be quite challenging.

To obtain the most powerful magical artifacts, players need to explore thoroughly and engage in battles with NPCs who may not seem like threats initially. Some of these characters are guardians of items that are essential for enhancing your gameplay experience.

One notable magical weapon is the Gleamdance Dagger. This article delves into the specifics of how to procure this exceptional item in Baldur’s Gate 3.

The coveted Gleamdance Dagger is wielded by Farlin at the Smuggler’s Docks, located to the west of Wyrm’s Crossing during Act 3. This area is currently embroiled in a conflict.

To reach the docks, proceed westward from Wyrm’s Crossing. A useful landmark is the Sword Coast Couriers building—head westward down the hill from there.

As you navigate this route, be cautious of traps scattered along the path. It is advisable to bring a rogue or a skilled character who excels at disarming traps. Eventually, you will encounter a skirmish involving Farlin’s group and rival smugglers.

Getting closer will automatically engage you in combat, with Farlin’s crew becoming temporary allies. After defeating their adversaries, you will be able to converse with Farlin.

This dialogue presents a key decision: while you can immediately attack Farlin, it’s advisable to refrain from doing so. Agreeing to assist Farlin in the ensuing conversation can reward you with a substantial amount of gold—something every adventurer can benefit from.

Once Farlin’s crew returns to their ship, you have the option to attack. This is when you can access the loot on their bodies.Defeating Farlin will yield the Gleamdance Dagger.

It’s important to note that much like other pivotal NPCs, such as Gish Far’aag who possesses the Ring of Arcane Synergy, the Gleamdance Dagger can only be obtained by defeating Farlin. Attempting to pickpocket them will not work; you’ll only find trinkets, leaving you with no alternative but to engage in direct combat.

Stats and Uses of the Gleamdance Dagger

The Gleamdance Dagger serves as an off-hand weapon, requiring players to wield it in their off-hand to reap its full benefits. When equipped, it grants a +1 bonus to the wielder’s armor class and emits a continuous light within a 6-meter radius.

This illumination proves especially useful in dark settings, such as caves, particularly for characters lacking Darkvision. However, the main allure of the Gleamdance Dagger is its armor class bonus, which is beneficial for Bards, Rogues, and Bladesinger Wizards.

Rogues can maximize the utility of this dagger, as they excel at dual-wielding. Bards seeking to wield dual weapons will also appreciate it, although they might prefer a rapier or another finesse weapon in their primary hand.
