The Beastmaster's Chain Amulet

Understanding The Beastmaster’s Chain

The Beastmaster's Chain in Chest

The Beastmaster’s Chain is an uncommon amulet that allows the wearer to utilize the Animal Friendship spell. This spell serves a primarily utilitarian purpose, enabling players to befriend a hostile creature, thereby preventing it from becoming aggressive.

Although the name implies combat utility, Animal Friendship predominantly shines in non-combat situations. It is especially beneficial for characters skilled in Speak with Animals.

This amulet is particularly advantageous for Druids, but any character with the appropriate spell can reap its benefits. However, be mindful of the following conditions when using the Animal Friendship spell:

  • The target creature must have an Intelligence score of three or lower.
  • If an ally damages the creature, the effect of the spell is broken.
  • The target might turn hostile again when the spell concludes, depending on the game’s difficulty setting.

There are several locations within Baldur’s Gate 3 where you can effectively use this amulet. Notable places include the Owlbear confrontation, interacting with a squirrel in the grove, and engaging with the character Scratch.

For optimal effectiveness, ensure the amulet is equipped whenever you plan to interact with animals.

A confrontation is likely to occur in this space while you attempt to free Halsin from captivity. Once the skirmish has concluded, you can loot the Beastmaster’s Chain from a chest located at the top of the stairs next to a table filled with limbs.

If you choose not to engage the Goblins immediately, you can try to loot the chest, but be cautious, as doing so may attract unwanted attention. Therefore, it is advisable to wait until after the Goblins have been dealt with to secure this valuable item.
