Bad Monkey Episode 9 Recap: Why You Shouldn’t Harm This Adorable Puppy

The highly anticipated Bad Monkey episode 9 premiered on Apple TV+ on October 2, 2022. This episode, the penultimate installment of the first season, showcased the showrunners’ talent, delivering what could be deemed the best episode so far in terms of action and satisfaction.

With the return of the Dragon Queen, potential consequences for Yancy and Rosa’s relationship, and other significant developments, Bad Monkey’s ninth episode effectively addresses lingering questions and sets the stage for a new direction in the storyline.

Eve Asks Rosa to Fly to Miami in Bad Monkey Episode 9

The episode kicks off with Yancy and his friends returning to their hotel after a wild night out. The focus then shifts to Ya-Ya and Gracie, with Gracie insisting that Ya-Ya leave the island with her for a fresh start. However, Ya-Ya refuses, leading Gracie to leave the island with a promise to keep in touch through postcards.

Next, we find Yancy and Rosa enjoying a beach day. Suddenly, Rosa receives a text from Eve, stating her desire to fly to Miami that day to gather funds for the property, inviting Rosa to join her and Nick. Initially panicked by the message, Rosa is reassured by Yancy, who assures her that everything will go according to plan. Before the scene transitions, Rosa and Yancy share a kiss on the beach.

Bonnie Returns in Episode 9

Viewers are then introduced to Bonnie, who is seen flirting with a prison guard in a bid to secure a reduced sentence. Despite her efforts, she soon escapes prison and is seen living a lavish lifestyle with a new partner and a flashy car.

Yancy Trains Rosa in Shooting

Before Rosa departs for Miami with Nick and Eve, Yancy takes the time to teach her gun handling skills. Rosa, however, brushes off the need for a weapon and heads to Nick and Eve’s residence.

Rosa Finds Herself in Danger

At Eve’s house, Rosa shares a martini with Eve, eager to board the jet. However, Eve distracts her with questions about her life and reveals the Polaroid, indicating the failure of their plan. As Rosa attempts to leave, Egg confronts her, pointing a gun at her.

The Storm Approaches

Gracie’s planned departure from the island gets delayed as all flights are canceled due to an impending storm, as predicted by her Ya-Ya. Later that day, Gracie meets with Yancy and Neville at the bar, where Yancy urges Gracie to use her instincts to find out if Rosa is in danger. Gracie shares alarming news from her sources—Eve and Nick are aware of Rosa’s whereabouts.

In a panic, Yancy rushes to rescue Rosa, instructing Neville to contact Rogelio if he doesn’t return in an hour.

Yancy breaks into Nick and Eve’s home, only to be met with Nick pointing a gun at him. Quick-thinking Yancy grabs Eve’s dog as leverage, reasoning that shooting him could harm the pup that Eve loves. As tensions rise, Eve intervenes, allowing Yancy to speak to Nick about his daughter Caitlin, urging him to reconsider his loyalty to Eve, whom he describes as manipulative.

In a surprising twist, Neville sneaks in, breaks a fishing rod, and attacks Nick, allowing Yancy and Neville to flee.

Rosa Reunites with Yancy

Rosa returns to Yancy as a surprise, explaining how she escaped from Egg with the gun Yancy had placed in her bag. After shooting Egg in the leg, Rosa discarded the weapon in the creek, and they quickly set off for Miami.

Gracie Encounters Her Mother in Bad Monkey Episode 9

Gracie crosses paths with a mysterious woman in the bar, who leads her to her mother’s grave. There, the woman expresses pride in Gracie’s accomplishments and mysteriously vanishes, hinting at a spectral visitation from Gracie’s mother. Gracie later prepares her altar at home, which brings joy to her Ya-Ya.

Nick’s Pain Grows

In a tense moment, Nick asks Eve to remove a fishing rod from his back, resulting in a life-threatening injury. As she rushes to get painkillers, Nick curses the dog in frustration. Meanwhile, Yancy and Rosa approach Claspers, revealing that their bosses are murderers and successfully persuade him to fly them off the island.

However, Yancy chooses to remain behind, determined to resolve the situation with Nick and Eve. Despite Rosa’s pleas for him to join her, Yancy stays, leaving her heartbroken.

The Dragon Queen Makes Her Move

The episode culminates with the Dragon Queen confronting Eve, delivering a knife wound while warning her that the storm has arrived, and it’s time for everyone to meet their fate. With a final, cryptic call to action, she declares to Eve:

‘It’s time to end this.’
