Bad Monkey Episode 9 Ending Analysis: Did Eve Examine the Polaroid?
Episode 9 of Bad Monkey premiered exclusively on Apple TV+ on October 2, 2022. Following the dramatic cliffhanger of Episode 8, where fans speculated if Eve had seen the Polaroid potentially jeopardizing Yancy’s scheme, this episode finally provides clarity for Bad Monkey enthusiasts.
Indeed, Eve has seen the Polaroid featuring Yancy, Rosa, and Clasper, marking Operation Arrest as a failure. Yancy must now concoct a new strategy to apprehend the couple for their extensive criminal activities.
With only one episode remaining in this season after episode 9 of Bad Monkey, the creators aim to build the momentum and deliver a satisfying finale. Episode 9, titled You Really Don’t Want to Kill This Scrumptious Little Puppy, has the following synopsis:
“Yancy discovers that his plan has gone awry, which puts Rosa in danger; Eve and the Dragon Queen have a reckoning.”
Eve Views the Polaroid in Bad Monkey Episode 9
In Bad Monkey episode 9, Yancy and Rosa enjoy a day at the beach when Rosa receives an urgent text from Eve. The message urges her to fly to Miami with Eve immediately. Rosa quickly packs her bags and bids farewell to Yancy and Neville, who insists she take a gun for protection, but she refuses.
As the episode progresses, Rosa arrives at Eve and Nick’s bungalow. Eve offers Rosa a drink and attempts to gather more personal information. However, Rosa is reticent and insists they should leave for Miami before the impending storm hits.
Unfazed by the weather, Eve pulls out the Polaroid and reveals her awareness of Rosa’s plans with Yancy. Realizing she has been exposed, Rosa attempts to leave, but Egg intervenes to prevent her escape.
Yancy Learns About Rosa’s Predicament
Meanwhile, Yancy is at the bar with Neville when he encounters Gracie yet again. After a brief discussion about superheroes, Yancy inquires if Gracie knows anything about Rosa. Without hesitation, Gracie reveals that Rosa is in danger, and both Eve and Nick are aware of her identity and purpose on the island.
Upon learning this, Yancy grabs Neville’s bike and dashes to Nick’s house to rescue Rosa. Sneaking inside, Yancy is immediately greeted by Nick, who menaces him with a shotgun. Just then, Eve instructs Nick to take Yancy outside to avoid getting blood on her bed.
Yancy Shows Quick Wit
Thinking quickly, Yancy seizes Eve’s dog as a shield, knowing Eve would hesitate to let Nick harm it. While holding the dog, Yancy engages Nick in conversation, forcing him to reflect on his life choices. This distraction gives Yancy valuable time until Neville arrives to assist.
Neville surprises Nick with a fishing rod attack, catching him off guard and injuring him. In the chaos, Eve attempts to lift the shotgun but misses her target.
Rosa Returns Home
After Yancy and Neville manage to escape, Rosa surprises them by returning. She informs Yancy that she shot Egg with the gun he had hidden in her bag, allowing her to escape. Without delay, Yancy and Rosa set out to locate pilot Claspers.
Upon finding Claspers at the bar, they request transportation to Miami. Claspers agrees but needs to check with his superiors first. Yancy reveals his status as a detective, showcasing his badge, and clarifies Rosa’s true identity as a doctor.
Claspers is soon made aware that Eve and Nick, his employers, are fraudsters and murderers. In a lighthearted moment, Claspers asks Yancy and Rosa for one last photo together before he commits to flying them to Miami.
Yancy Decides to Stay
Before the jet departs, Yancy confides in Rosa that he must remain on the island to confront the escalating situation. Rosa urges him to join her, expressing concern for his safety, but Yancy remains resolute in his decision to fight against Eve and Nick for their transgressions.
Rosa warns Yancy that if he chooses not to accompany her, it may mean the end of their relationship. Nevertheless, prioritizing the larger narrative, Yancy heartbreakingly opts to stay behind, and Rosa flies to Miami with Claspers.
The Dragon Queen Turns Away from Eve
Gracie, who had planned to leave the island earlier in the episode, finds herself unable to do so due to the storm hindering flights. Remaining on the island prompts a revelation about her identity and abilities. A mystical encounter with her mother during episode 9 of Bad Monkey solidifies her role as the Dragon Queen. She returns home and reconstructs her altar, which she had earlier dismantled in episode 8.
In the closing moments of episode 9, Gracie is depicted in her former self, embracing the tumultuous storm. When Eve approaches, pleading for help for an injured Nick, Gracie boldly declines, stating she will no longer assist them. With a swift motion, Gracie nicks Eve on the chin with her knife, signaling her return as the Dragon Queen and her newfound power that far surpasses Eve’s expectations.
