The Galawain’s Tusk marks the ultimate region unlocked in Avowed, inviting players to traverse its landscapes alongside companions. Gamers will unravel enigmas while undertaking side quests and advancing their journey through the main narrative. Notably, there are treasure map quests that reveal hidden artifacts, including unique weapons and armor.
One intriguing treasure map quest, titled The Blade That Hungers, directs players away from Solace Keep to the vicinity of the Archives, where a buried treasure with a sinister background is concealed. The original proprietor concealed this weapon due to its overwhelming craving—one that transcended mere nourishment, seeking the taste of blood instead.
Acquiring the Treasure Map: The Blade That Hungers

To obtain the The Blade That Hungers treasure map in Avowed, players must purchase it for 4, 032 coins from Bulti, a merchant located on the second floor of Solace Keep. Progressing through the main quest enables access to this city, where buying the map initiates a side quest and presents a sketch indicating the treasure’s whereabouts.
The map itself depicts a landscape dotted with hills and hints at a lone building peeking through the terrain. Given that much of the surrounding area is largely barren, pinpointing the exact location of the treasure may present a challenge.
Locating the Treasure: The Blade That Hungers

The hidden treasure can be found in the Ash Forest, specifically near the Living Archives. Players are encouraged to activate the Destul bounty side quest while still in Solace Keep, as this will guide them to the Ash Forest and allow them to engage the Ash Forest Beacon.

Once at the waypoint, head west down the slope where a cluster of enemies can be encountered alongside a Starmetal Fragment—necessary for the Forged of Star-Stuff quest within Avowed. Continue up the slope, veering east to come upon an archway featuring a gigantic skull.

Proceed through the arch and turn left to discover a cave entrance hidden behind a modest rock formation. Enter the cave, ascend the slope and turn left again to uncover a chest nestled in the corner on your right.

Opening the chest finalizes the quest and rewards players with the Umbral Needle, a distinctive one-handed melee weapon featuring remarkable abilities:
Fampyr’s Bite | Restores 2% of damage dealt as health. |
---|---|
Greater Opening Strike | Increases damage by 15% against enemies with full health. |
