How to Start a Cure for Rage in Avowed
Find Wandering Warden Lerae
You can begin this quest in multiple ways, but we recommend focusing on the method that provides maximum information. Start your journey at the Southern Warden Tower, located just north of the Galawain’s Tusks entrance.
Proceed south from the tower, then take a left along the main road until you spot Warden Lerae trying to flag you down. She will be situated in the middle of the road, close to a prominent flagpole visible from a distance. Engage in a conversation with Lerae, and make sure to show curiosity about the potential trade between the empire and Galawain’s Tusks. This will lead to a discussion about the missing caravan.
Accept the task of searching for the caravan and the missing Warden Gilyn. This marks the official beginning of “A Cure for Rage“, with your first objective being to Locate the Missing Aedyran Caravan.
Where to Find the Aedyran Caravan
Your quest journal will guide you to a marker about 150 meters north of Warden Lerae. Follow the main road northward until you reach the designated area, at which point you’ll need to veer off the main path.
Here, you will discover the first broken cart of the caravan, accompanied by a lifeless body, a health potion hidden within breakable crates, and a “Bill of Goods Sold to Wardens“document positioned under the rear right wheel. Additionally, you will encounter two small Stone Beetles in this vicinity.
Continue to follow the wagon tracks towards the east, where you will find further wreckage from the caravan. Shortly after, you will come across a slight drop leading to a rock ledge where a larger wreckage lies. Once you descend to the lower level, this first part of your task will be fulfilled, prompting you to locate Gilyn.
The recipe book you need for later parts of the quest is located in the cart on this rock ledge. You’ll want to ensure you pick this up if you plan to complete the quest peacefully.
How to Complete a Cure for Rage in Avowed
Head to Grakohr’s Cave
Upon reaching the wreckage on the main road after descending from the ledge, you’ll notice large footprints encircling the broken carts. Follow these tracks south along the road until you arrive at the final cart wedged against a rock wall. Here, you’ll observe that the large prints continue west towards Grakohr’s Cave.
Make your way to the cave, and as you approach, a cutscene will trigger automatically. Within, you will witness Grakohr the Ogre holding Gilyn hostage, presenting you with two distinct options.
- Option 1: Attack Grakohr – Initially, Grakohr may appear to be a menacing beast, undeserving of empathy or assistance.
- Option 2: Help Grakohr – Listen to Grakohr’s side of the story. He presents himself as an intelligent being and claims to be a victim of unprovoked aggression, merely defending himself. He will request your help in finding a cure for his ailment and promises to release Gilyn in return.
Attack Grakohr in Avowed
If you opt to directly defeat Grakohr to liberate Gilyn, select the ‘Attack’ dialogue prompt as soon as it appears. This choice will also reward you with Avowed’s unique Limb-Taker greataxe. The quest will conclude once you free Gilyn.

Where to Find the Calcified Fire Beetle Nest
This item can be located just east of Grakohr’s Cave, amidst rocky pillars as you navigate towards the broken bridge in “Our Dreams Divide Us Still.”As you proceed east from the cave, you will find a group of beetles; look for the typical quest item glowing orange.
Where to Find Anti-Miotic Moss
To find this item, head to the southwest area of the rock formation housing Grakohr’s Cave. If you continue past the cave’s entrance, you will see a cluster of red trees on your right. Ascend the ledges, and the moss will be visible at the edge of the rock wall, as well as beneath the red trees.
Where to Find the Jar of Gunpowder Snuff
This item is conveniently located. Go to the Southern Warden Tower, ascend to the second floor, and upon entering the chamber, look against the wall to the right. There, you will discover the snuffbox on a small table near the staircase.
Should You Help Grakohr in Avowed?
