“Mapping the Living Lands” is an expansive side quest that immerses players in the diverse regions of Avowed. Early in the adventure, you will meet Sanza, a determined merchant seeking to chart the entire Living Lands. Sanza reveals that he previously dispatched several cartographers to different regions, yet their fate is currently unknown. This guide will provide insights on locating each cartographer in Avowed and detail the rewards awaiting completion of this quest.
Initiating the Mapping Quest in Avowed
Finding Sanza in Dawnshore

Upon completing the prologue of Avowed, you will gain access to the Dawnshore region, where Sanza awaits just north of the docks at the Claviger’s Landing. Be mindful, as players may overlook him amidst other activities.

To locate Sanza, head north from the merchant area by the docks. He can be found west of a bridge spanning a nearby river, with a quest exclamation marker clearly signaling his presence. Engaging with Sanza will introduce you to the quest, outlining his desire to recover maps from various cartographers he sent into the Living Lands.

Your objective is to seek out each cartographer, collect the maps, and return them to Sanza’s Emporium located in Northern Paradis. Note that the quest does not provide exact locations for the cartographers, adding an exploratory element to your journey.
Dawnshore Cartographer – Avowed

The first cartographer can be found in the eastern part of Dawnshore, specifically at the Usher’s Hand Point of Interest (POI).This area also houses a fragment of Woedica’s Totem, which is beneficial for shrine quests.

To find this cartographer, navigate to the northwest corner of Usher’s Hand. You should easily spot a large tree; nearby, a corpse lies under a fallen stone pillar. This unfortunate individual is the first cartographer, and you can collect the map documentation beside their body.
After obtaining the map, return it to Sanza’s Emporium. While you won’t earn a reward until you present the second map, submitting this first one will still progress the quest.
Emerald Stair Cartographer – Avowed

The subsequent cartographer is discovered on the grounds of the Naku Tedek temple. Start your search at the Naku Tedek Party Camp. From this point, proceed west down the hill until you reach the cliff’s edge. Then turn south until the path concludes. Nearby, you will find Fleecia’s Map lying next to Fleecia’s lifeless body.

Once you deliver the map back to Sanza, he will reward you with an Awakened Adra.
Shatterscarp Cartographer – Avowed

The third cartographer is situated at the southeastern edge of Shatterscarp. Start from the Twin Offerings Overlook and head south, where you will traverse a lengthy section of fractured cliffs extending into the ocean.

Continue along this rocky terrain until you discover the body of the third cartographer nestled against a rock face, with their map lying on the ground beside them.
Galawain’s Tusk Cartographer – Avowed

The final cartographer’s journey is more intricate. Begin in the Ash Forest, located in the northwestern section of Galawain’s Tusk.

At the marked location, you will encounter an abandoned camp with a wooden post holding a note. This note discloses that the cartographer has been captured and taken to Soreena’s Mercy.

Proceed to the upper levels of Soreena’s Mercy to find Renato Varga, the fourth cartographer, imprisoned within a cell.

You can negotiate with the jailer, allowing you to either keep Renato incarcerated for his transgressions or persuade them to release him. Regardless of the choice made, you will receive the concluding map as a reward. Be sure to return to Sanza to complete the “Mapping the Living Lands”questline.
It’s important to note that players have reported inconsistencies with the reward system tied to the “Mapping the Living Lands”quest. While some players have received Adra after handing in each map, others may only receive it after the second map. We will update this guidance with clarifications as more information becomes available.
