The quest known as The Painter’s Regret marks the initiation of your treasure hunting adventures in the atmospheric and somber Emerald Stair of Avowed. You can kick off this treasure hunt as soon as you start exploring this murky region.
Your first step involves locating the treasure map, which is cleverly concealed within a random house in the vicinity of your starting point. Once you have the map in hand, finding the treasure’s exact location is relatively straightforward.
However, reaching the treasure might pose a challenge, particularly if you haven’t navigated this part of the game before. To ease your journey, this guide will detail the map’s location, the treasure site, and the rewards waiting for you at the end of this engaging hunt.
Finding the Treasure Map
Start your search at the Farmer’s Market in the Coastal Farms, which is conveniently located near the entrance of Fior mes Iverno. From here, head east.
If you’ve already unlocked it, you can alternatively travel north from the party camp located in Elia’s Revenant Farm. Choose your preferred route until you arrive at a locked farmhouse.
While the front door will be locked, don’t worry: the back entrance is open. Make your way in, and you will discover the Painter’s Regret map prominently displayed in the center of the room, ready for you to collect.
Locating the Treasure of Painter’s Regret
Fortunately, this treasure is not hidden far away as some others may be, like the treasure in the Earthly Aegis quest. To embark on your search, begin at the Wildwoods Outskirts Party Camp. If you haven’t found this location yet, simply head west from the entrance of Fior mes Iverno and follow the path until you come upon a bridge.
Cross the bridge, continuing along the path until you spot the party camp—this is the same bridge depicted on the treasure map.
From the party camp, head southeast towards the river. Carefully make your way down the hill where you will eventually find a small cave nestled within the hillside, resembling a cozy abode likely belonging to a painter. Here, you can loot the chest and conclude your treasure hunt.
Rewards for Your Treasure Hunt
The reward for completing the Painter’s Regret quest is uniquely intriguing: instead of receiving a formidable weapon or armor, you will obtain a paint brush.
This Painter’s Brush is not just a whimsical item; it carries a practical advantage by offering the Critical Eye perk, which boosts your Critical Hit Chance by +5%.This trinket can be particularly beneficial if your character build focuses on enhancing critical hit capabilities.
For players keen on maximizing critical hits, equipping the Paint Brush will prove advantageous. Consider pairing it with weapons like the Giant’s Slumber—a superb spear for both mid and end game—or the Drawn In Winter, one of the best early-game weapons in Avowed.
Both of these weapons already provide a notable +6% Critical Hit chance on their own. When combined with the Critical Eye perk from the Painter’s Brush, you’ll find yourself landing critical hits with alarming frequency, turning your Envoy into a formidable force.
