A thrilling new AAA game inspired by the beloved Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender is currently in development. This exciting announcement was made today by Paramount Game Studios and Saber Interactive, who are collaborating with Avatar Studios to create this immersive RPG experience. Avatar Studios is the production company founded by Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko—the original creators of the iconic show.

According to the announcement, the game is in the early stages of development. It will mark the first AAA gaming experience set in this cherished universe, with developers proclaiming it to be “the biggest video game in franchise history.”This untitled game will be available on PC and consoles once completed.

Interestingly, the storyline will not revolve around Aang, Katara, or any other familiar Avatars from the series. Instead, players will explore the journey of an “all-new, never-before-seen Avatar”who existed thousands of years before the events of the main storylines. This new Avatar, capable of mastering water, earth, fire, and air elements, will “engage in dynamic combat alongside companions and face the challenges and decisions inherent to being the keeper of balance in the world,”as described by the development team.

“We understand that loyal fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender have been anticipating more stories that connect them with the show’s universe. Through gaming, we aim to expand the world-building and offer fans an immersive experience of new content,”says Doug Rosen, SVP of Games and Emerging Media at Paramount. “Saber Interactive has a strong track record of bringing IP-based games to life, and we are thrilled to co-fund this AAA title with them, allowing fans to experience this world firsthand.”

Since the game is still in early development, we may not hear more updates on this unnamed Avatar game for a while. It’s worth noting that Saber Interactive is also working on post-launch content for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, following its highly successful launch.
