Available Now: KB5044380 for Windows 11 23H2 Non-Security Update

Microsoft has initiated the distribution of non-security updates for Windows 11, designated as KB5044380. This rollout encompasses Windows 11 Enterprise and Education (version 22H2), alongside all Windows 11 editions (version 23H2), with build identifiers 22621.4391 and 22631.4391. Among the new features are settings for the Windows 11 Copilot key, an enhanced gaming keyboard, and additional improvements.

• [Gamepad Keyboard] New! This update introduces a new Gamepad keyboard layout for the on-screen keyboard, enabling control via your Xbox controller for navigation and typing. Button accelerators such as the X button for backspace and the Y button for the spacebar have also been incorporated, designed with vertical alignment for improved maneuvering.
• [Notifications] New! Users can now disable suggestions for muting notifications from specific applications. Simply click on the ellipses (…) in the notification to turn this feature off. Alternatively, head to Settings > System > Notifications to disable it there. Look for “Notification Suggestions” in the senders list, which will only appear after you have received a notification.
• [Start Menu] New! “All apps” has been renamed to “All.”

[Narrator]

• New! A new shortcut for Narrator has been introduced. Press Narrator key + Ctrl + X to copy the most recent spoken content to the clipboard. This is particularly handy for quickly transferring text such as codes or numerical information.
• New! It will now automatically read the content of an email in the new Outlook, similar to the functionality found in the classic version of Outlook.

Standard Rollout

• [Copilot Key Settings] New! You can now customize the Copilot key on your keyboard. On new devices, pressing this key opens the Copilot app. If you’re logged into a Microsoft Entra ID account, it will launch the M365 app. You have the option to link this key to another app or initiate a search. To configure this, visit Settings > Personalization > Text input. Note that the alternate app must be signed with an MSIX package to comply with security and privacy regulations. If your keyboard lacks a designated Copilot key, these changes will not apply.
• [Battery Usage] Fixed: The issue regarding excessive battery consumption during Modern Standby has been addressed.
• [Microsoft Teams] Fixed: Resolved an issue that prevented users from joining Teams meetings through an Outlook meeting reminder.
• [Product Activation Phone Numbers] Fixed: Several new phone numbers have been added for various regions.
• [Multi-Function Printer (MFP)] Fixed: Resolved a problem where specific network commands were mistakenly printed when connected via USB.

• [vmswitch] Fixed: A stop error occurring with a vmswitch when utilizing Load Balancing and Failover (LBFO) teaming alongside two virtual switches on a virtual machine (VM) has been resolved. One of the virtual switches leverages single root Input/Output virtualization (SR-IOV).
• [Collector Sets] Fixed: The issue of collector sets failing to close appropriately during startup or active operation has been addressed, resolving a situation where the stop command became unresponsive.
• [Country and Operator Settings Asset (COSA)] Fixed: Updates have been applied to multiple mobile operator profiles.
• [Windows Hello for Business] Fixed: Addressed the PIN reset issue that emerged when using the “I forgot my PIN” option on the credentials screen.
