Attack on Titan: THE LAST ATTACK is officially making its way to American cinemas! The conclusion of the Attack on Titan saga has garnered significant attention from its fanbase for numerous reasons. Initially, some were apprehensive about the transition in production teams; however, enthusiasm grew as viewers became eager to witness what studio MAPPA would achieve with the climax of this epic tale.

The fourth and final season unfolded in four parts, each leaving audiences eagerly awaiting the continuation of the story. MAPPA’s ability to maintain momentum and deliver thrilling content has kept fans engaged, even if the series’ original finale received mixed reactions. Nonetheless, the studio was adept at bringing electrifying action and beautifully crafted scenes to life.

As a delightful twist, the storylines from Parts 3 and 4 have been reworked into a single film featuring new footage. THE LAST ATTACK premiered in Japan last November, receiving a warm welcome from audiences. Recently, at the CCXP24 event in São Paulo, Brazil, Crunchyroll announced a collaboration with Sony Pictures for its North American release in early 2025. The film is also set to debut in various other countries.

As described by Crunchyroll, the film promises to be a “cinematic experience that consolidates the climactic chapters of this critically acclaimed series.” While specific details about the exact release date remain under wraps, the term “early 2025″typically suggests a window within the first quarter of the year. The total runtime of the movie is approximately 145 minutes.

Returning Key Personnel

Despite the shift in studios from season three to season four, Hiroshi Seko remained the head writer for both Attack on Titan: The Final Season and The Last Attack movie. His other notable writing credits include Seraph of the End, Ajin: Demi-Human, Banana Fish, and Dorohedoro.

Yuichiro Hayashi has served as the series director since the Final Season and also helmed the new compilation film. His prior collaboration with Seko on the Dorohedoro anime adaptation, which aired in 2020, laid the groundwork for their successful partnership. At CCXP24, Hayashi shared insights regarding the immense responsibility he felt directing the conclusion of this cherished series.

Additional returning talents include Tomohiro Kishi (character designer), Kuniaki Nemoto (art director), and Daisuke Niinuma (chief animation director), each contributing essential skills to the project.
