Mundfish Announces Final DLC for Atomic Heart: Blood on Crystal
Based in Cyprus, the game development studio Mundfish has officially revealed the release of the fourth and concluding DLC for their popular title Atomic Heart. Entitled Blood on Crystal, this expansion is set to launch on April 16, making it available across various platforms including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
A Thrilling Narrative Conclusion
In this much-anticipated DLC, players will engage in what is described as a “thrilling, high-stakes”conclusion to the narrative established in the original game. Players will step into the shoes of protagonist P-3, who, alongside allies, must navigate the perilous depths of Facility 3826. The mission? To confront the formidable CHAR-les and make a final desperate attempt to avert humanity’s imminent destruction. Here’s an in-depth look at what players can expect:
- Explore new environments including the Wave Platform and the top-secret Crystal Complex, where shocking revelations regarding CHAR-les’s sinister goals will unfold.
- Face the ultimate test against the Polymorphs, a new class of mysterious beings resulting from CHAR-les’s horrifying experiments.
- These Polymorphs capitalize on the unique properties of polymers to exhibit elemental forms, compelling players to adapt their combat strategies and optimize their arsenal dynamically.
- Prepare to encounter challenging bosses still hiding within Facility 3826. Fortunately, players will wield the most powerful glove abilities and weapons seen to date to tackle these foes.
Ultimate Edition Release and Pricing
In conjunction with the DLC, Mundfish plans to release the Ultimate Edition of Atomic Heart, available in both digital and retail formats. Pre-orders for a limited physical edition that features an exclusive SteelBook are already live from select retailers, with the release date set for March 24. Digital editions will coincide with the launch of Blood on Crystal on April 16.
The previous DLCs—Annihilation Instinct, Trapped in Limbo, and Enchantment Under the Sea—are each priced at $10 on Steam, suggesting that Blood on Crystal will likely follow suit. Additionally, players who purchased the Gold or Premium Edition at the game’s initial launch can expect to access this DLC at no extra cost, just as they did with the earlier expansions.
Atomic Heart’s Journey and Future Developments
Since its debut in February 2023, Mundfish has impressively rolled out four story-centric DLCs over three years, all while simultaneously developing Atomic Heart 2, which promises a more expansive and RPG-like experience according to insights shared by the Director in a recent exclusive interview.
