Atomfall Guide: Accessing All Game Regions

Atomfall Guide: Accessing All Game Regions

The universe of Atomfall is teeming with captivating anomalies and unexpected twists. What initially appears to be straightforward gameplay quickly reveals a complex landscape, particularly in the intricate quarries and caverns of Northern Britain. Navigating these underground networks can prove daunting, especially when trying to locate their various entrances scattered throughout the game.

Within Atomfall’s “Quarantine Zone, ”players will encounter four primary overground regions linked through subterranean passages that converge at a massive scientific structure known as The Interchange.

Each region boasts its own unique aesthetic, distinct enemy types, valuable loot, and side quests, each of which players must explore to progress toward game completion. Despite the availability of area maps, players may find it challenging to determine the next steps for exploration. Remember, not every area is welcoming; players will likely find themselves needing to infiltrate areas against their will.

If you find yourself disoriented, consider adjusting the difficulty in the “Exploration”section of the Playstyle settings. This will grant access to a compass and navigation hints, making exploration more manageable.

Slatten Dale

The Starting Quarry Filled With Challenges

Nuclear fall Slatten Dale

Slatten Dale serves as the game’s initial hub world, automatically accessible upon completing the introduction. Contrary to first impressions, this area is expansive, featuring several notable points of interest.

Key highlights include an entrance to The Interchange located in the northeast, which facilitates access to other essential areas. Also, be sure to check out Molly Jowett’s trader camp in the northern part and the Slate Mine Caves, where crucial information about the Interchange entrance can be uncovered.

As players gear up with improved weaponry, visiting the Outlaw camp becomes a priority. Here, valuable loot can be acquired, albeit accompanied by intense resistance. Notably, a shortcut to Casterfell Woods can be accessed via the Sewer Tunnels located in the northwest.

Overall, Slatten Dale stands out as one of the safer zones to gather supplies and equipment, where the primary opponent is the Outlaw faction.

Wyndham Village

A Peaceful Haven Amidst Quarantine Zone Threats

Wyndham Village Atrium

Wyndham Village, the game’s most serene area, does not guarantee safety. This locale can be accessed through pathways originating from Slatten Dale or via The Interchange, although approaching the gates directly is the safest option.

To locate the entrance, head to the far end of Slatten Dale toward the tunnel near the Railyard, positioned north of the Water Wheels. Inside Wyndham Village, players will discover several notable buildings, including the Church and Town Hall.

Behind the Church lies another entrance to The Interchange, but expect heavy guarding. Trespassing will provoke an attack from the guards, so proceed with caution.

This village operates as a haven where players can explore without fear of immediate threat, provided they remain on good terms with the Protocol soldiers.

Casterfell Woods

A Treacherous Forest Swarming with Cultists

Casterfell Woods Fallout

Casterfell Woods presents a hazardous environment laden with various enemies and natural challenges. Players will encounter Outlaws, Druids, Ferals, and even hazardous beehives as they navigate.

Accessing Casterfell Woods is feasible through two routes: the first is via the Sewer Tunnels in Slatten Dale, which requires combat against enemies and acquiring the Sewer Key. The second, gentler option involves traversing from Wyndham Village down the coastline. Turning left at the shoreline leads players along a peaceful path to the woods.

This area is pivotal for players as it houses Mother Jago and the mystical Druid faction. Engaging with Mother Jago allows players to learn the recipe for the Special Tonic, crucial for mitigating Infected damage and ensuring survival within medical facilities in The Interchange.

Key features of Casterfell Woods include the Stone Circle, Casterfell Dam, and Castle Ruins. It’s also the prime location for farming Herbs and Spores, essential resources throughout the game.

Skethermoor

A Strictly Controlled Area Demanding Permission

Skethermoor Fallout

Skethermoor distinguishes itself from other regions due to its heavy policing by the Protocol faction. Over half of this area is secured as a military camp, and any trespassing will prompt an immediate attack.

To gain entry to Skethermoor, players can either proceed southeast from Wyndham Village or navigate through the Slate Mine Caves in Slatten Dale.

Obtaining permission to enter the camp involves conversing with Captain Sims located in the Town Hall of Wyndham Village. Reporting an incident at the church builds trust and grants a Protocol pass.

Beyond safety concerns, players will find intriguing side quests scattered in unrestricted zones, including a labyrinth in the Brinsop Manor cellar.

The Interchange

A Vast Underground Scientific Complex

Atomfall The Interchange

The Interchange is a sprawling underground network comprising facilities and tunnels connecting all overground areas. Your primary objective within the game revolves around unlocking and powering this crucial facility, enabling access to Oberon and determining the future of the situation.

Each overground area contains large yellow doors leading into The Interchange. The locations of these entrances are:

  • Slatten Dale: In the northeast near the entrance to Wyndham Village.
  • Wyndham Village: Just east of St. Katherine’s Church.
  • Skethermoor: Centrally located within the Protocol Camp.
  • Casterfell Woods: Directly west of the entry point to Wyndham Village.

Upon entering through one of these doors, players must unlock the Medical and Robotics areas by energizing four Data Stores: Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, and Delta. Accessing the Medical area involves powering either Alpha or Charlie, while accessing the Robotics section requires powering either Bravo or Delta.

Data Stores Charlie and Delta are accessible via the Slatten Dale entrance, whereas Alpha can be accessed from Wyndham Village or Casterfell Woods. Data Store Bravo requires entry through Skethermoor. Players can choose the order in which to energize each Data Store.

Each Data Store demands an Atomic Battery to be inserted into its mainframe, subsequently unlocking doors and deeper access into the facility.

Once all Data Stores are powered, they must be connected to the Central Processor using a Signal Redirector. With the signals properly directed, players can advance to the Windscale Plant, home of the Oberon Dig Site.

Windscale Plant

The Origin and Conclusion of Your Adventure

Children's Windscale Atomfall

The Windscale Plant represents the ultimate goal within Atomfall, reachable only by restoring The Interchange’s functionality. Upon powering all Data Stores, using a Signal Redirector on the floor panels in the Central Processing area will unveil the path to Oberon, located within the Windscale Plant.

Note that there is no above-ground route to this site. Therefore, it’s advisable to prepare thoroughly with ample ammunition and weapons before descent. Entering the Plant marks a decisive turning point in the game; consider completing any side quests or exploring new potential endings before proceeding.

Within the facility, players can choose to navigate either left or right paths leading to the Oberon Dig Site. Prepare for confrontations with numerous Thralls, Ferals, and toxic plants along your journey.

Although the Windscale Plant seems vast, numerous side passages and rooms await discovery. After arriving at the Oberon Dig Site, players will face the crucial decision of how to interact with the mysterious supernatural entity.

Be mindful of the route taken to reach the dig site; depending on the chosen ending, a hasty retreat might be necessary when chaos ensues.
