ASUS is on the verge of unveiling its latest innovation in GPU design with the upcoming ROG Matrix edition for the GeForce RTX 5090, as hinted in a recent teaser video. This new graphics card promises an eye-catching shroud and a unique RGB lighting setup that sets it apart from other models.
ASUS GeForce RTX 5090 Matrix: A Bold New Design on the Horizon
The ROG Matrix edition introduces a fresh aesthetic that diverges significantly from previous models. While ASUS has released a variety of premium versions for the GeForce RTX 5090—such as the ROG Strix and ROG Astral—this new offering appears poised to capture attention without the staggering price tag of the extravagant 5kg Gold Astral RTX 5090, which is listed at an astronomical $500, 000.
Though the Matrix edition is unlikely to reach such exorbitant prices, it is anticipated to start around $3000, reflecting current pricing trends for the GeForce RTX 5090 lineup. A Facebook teaser from ASUS ROG presented a glimpse of this new design, which is expected to be among the flagship models, strongly suggesting it is indeed the RTX 5090.

The teaser video highlights a distinctive circular design at the shroud’s end, which is larger than that of its predecessor, allowing for innovative customizations. This Infinity Mirror design features the ROG branding, and indications suggest it may be customizable for individual user preferences. While the second fan is slightly obscured in the video, the third fan appears comparable in size, warranting a closer examination of the fan blades for confirmation.

Unlike the ROG Matrix RTX 4090, which showcased an all-in-one (AIO) cooling solution, this newest edition seems to embrace an air-cooling design. Although drawing inspiration from the popular ROG Matrix RTX 2080 Ti—known for its Infinity Mirror shroud—this design marks a departure from the previous model’s AIO cooling features, which eliminated the need for radiator installation within the gaming case. However, speculation remains that the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 may incorporate an AIO cooler.

An official announcement about the GPU is expected soon, and anticipation builds for its high boost clock speeds and a PCB engineered to enable even greater frequencies through manual overclocking. The latest developments in cooling technology and design aesthetics ensure that the ROG Matrix RTX 5090 is set to be a compelling choice for gamers and enthusiasts alike.
