ASUS Unveils ROG RTX 5090 Edition Featuring 5kg of Gold

Why settle for conventional gold jewelry when you can invest in a gold GPU that offers gaming capabilities? ASUS has truly taken extravagance to an unprecedented level with what is likely the most expensive graphics card ever created. Following the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab edition, ASUS has revealed a sensational new version in China—the gold-infused ROG RTX 5090.

This remarkable GPU is crafted using approximately 5 kilograms of actual gold, bringing the total weight to a staggering 7.2 kilograms. By comparison, standard RTX 5090 graphics cards typically weigh between 2.5 to 3.0 kilograms. The added heft originates from the GPU shroud, which is completely made of gold, significantly increasing its weight over standard components.

From the available images, it appears that the heat sink is made of copper, a material that is already significantly more expensive than standard aluminum options. While the golden exterior appears thick, it lacks the polish seen in other luxury editions. ASUS aimed to echo the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab design, but this new version does not achieve the same level of elegance; however, it certainly stands out due to its solid gold composition, unlike the Dhahab edition, which featured only gold plating.

There have been speculations about this being the RTX 5090D, though this remains unverified. Regardless, the price is projected to be at least $500, 000, which is more than ten times higher than NVIDIA’s powerful Blackwell B200 data center GPU. In stark contrast, the ROG Astral RTX 5090 Dhahab was priced around $8, 000 for the Middle East market, making this gold GPU an astronomical 80 times more expensive.

When considering the standard $2, 000 RTX 5090, it’s astonishing to realize that this gold version would cost approximately 250 times that amount. Clearly, such a purchase seems impractical. The Dhahab edition was already steeply priced, but now ASUS has pushed the boundaries further with an actual gold GPU—a concept that feels almost surreal. For that price, one could buy a luxury sports car like a Ferrari. It remains to be seen where this extraordinarily priced GPU will fit into the market.
