ASUS Launches Next-Gen ROG NUC 9 Mini PC Featuring Ryzen 9 9955HX3D at $2100; Exclusive GeForce RTX 5090 Option
Earlier this month, ASUS made headlines by officially acquiring the NUC (Next Unit of Computing) brand from Intel. This transition enhances ASUS’s responsibility to develop and market Intel’s NUC systems utilizing Intel’s processors spanning from the 10th to the 13th generation and even future releases. Interestingly, ASUS has pivoted by introducing its first mini PC in the NUC line powered by AMD, marking a departure from the traditional Intel-associated lineage.

The ROG NUC 9 Mini PC stands out as the inaugural system integrating AMD’s premier Ryzen 9000 mobile processor, specifically the Ryzen 9 9955HX3D. This powerful CPU boasts a 16-core, 32-thread Zen 5 architecture alongside a substantial 128 MB of L3 cache, significantly enhancing gaming performance. Accompanying this is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 laptop GPU, which is the sole GPU option currently available for this model, a contrast to the broader GPU variety seen in Intel-based NUC systems that include options like the RTX 5060, RTX 5070, and RTX 5080 series.

The mini PC features 32 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM operating at 5600 MT/s. This memory speed is somewhat lower compared to Intel’s offerings which can reach up to 6400 MT/s. For storage capabilities, the system includes two M.2 slots—one supporting PCIe Gen 4 and the other Gen 5—along with a default 1 TB storage. Upgradability is a key feature, allowing enhancements of RAM up to 96 GB and additional storage as per user needs. Connectivity is robust with the inclusion of WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and a reliable 2.5G Ethernet port. This compact mini PC measures a mere 282.4mm x 187.7mm x 56.5mm, making it ideal for limited spaces.
In terms of thermal management, the ROG NUC 9 employs a dual-fan system paired with strategically designed side ventilation. As for port availability, the front panel includes several USB Type A and Type C ports, while the rear comes equipped with modern USB4, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1 outputs.

The ASUS ROG NUC 9 is currently available in China for ¥14, 999, approximately equivalent to $2, 100. However, the anticipated retail price is set at ¥15, 999, or around $2, 244.
