
The upcoming ASUS ROG Strix B860-A Gaming WiFi motherboard is set to utilize the LGA 1851 socket, specifically designed for Intel’s Arrow Lake desktop CPUs. This motherboard aims to provide a budget-friendly alternative compared to the premium Intel Z890 offerings.
Leaked Details of the ASUS ROG Strix B860-A: A Closer Look
Intel’s 800 series chipset extends beyond just the Z890 motherboards, introducing the B860 chipset. Although Intel has yet to issue an official announcement regarding the launch, a recent unboxing video by PCEkspertTV showcases the features of a fresh B860 motherboard.
It is important to note that both AMD and Intel share similar naming conventions for their budget segment motherboards, like the B860. However, the sockets will differ, with each manufacturer offering multiple chipsets in addition to the B860. The specific model highlighted in the video, the ASUS ROG Strix B860-A Gaming WiFi, serves as a successor to the ROG Strix B760-A Gaming WiFi and stands as a cost-effective option against the pricier ROG Strix Z890-A Gaming WiFi.

Unlike its higher-end counterpart, the Z890-A Gaming WiFi, the B860-A will not support CPU overclocking. Instead, it is geared towards users who plan to utilize non-overclockable Core Ultra 200S series processors. The unboxing video reveals that the motherboard is equipped with substantial heatsinks covering both the VRM chipset and the M.2 slots, enhancing thermal management.
While the heatsinks prominently feature the Strix branding, it is still uncertain whether the I/O shroud will incorporate RGB lighting. Nevertheless, it appears that the ROG logo will illuminate when the system is powered on.


This motherboard features four DIMM slots and two PCI-E x16 slots, one of which is reinforced with steel armor for added strength and durability. On the storage front, users can expect four M.2 slots alongside four SATA ports. A notable change from the previous generation is the repositioning of the CMOS battery, now located beneath the primary PCI-E x16 slot, which may complicate battery replacement for users with dual-slot GPUs.
Additionally, the motherboard is equipped with a variety of headers for RGB/ARGB fans and front panel connections. However, onboard troubleshooting options seem limited, with only DEBUG LEDs available. In terms of I/O connectivity, the B860-A will feature ten USB ports, including two USB-C 20G ports, along with Wi-Fi 7 support and 2.5G LAN. Users will also benefit from BIOS Flashback and a CMOS Clear button, enhancing overall usability.
Currently, details regarding pricing and comprehensive specifications remain undisclosed. The B860 motherboards are anticipated to debut in early 2025, coinciding with the second wave of Arrow Lake desktop CPUs.
