ASUS Launches Enhanced AEMP III Supporting Up to 64 GB Memory Modules on Intel 800-Series Motherboards

ASUS has enhanced its AEMP III technology to support up to four DIMMs, facilitating the use of 64 GB CUDIMM DDR5 modules on Intel’s 800-series motherboards. This advancement significantly boosts the maximum memory configuration to an impressive 256 GB, while also enabling higher speeds of 5600 MT/s.

The competitive landscape among memory manufacturers has led to the introduction of astonishingly high-frequency DDR5 modules. Recently, several companies have launched their CUDIMMs with transfer speeds that soar beyond 10,000 MT/s, some even surpassing the 12,000 MT/s threshold through overclocking techniques.

The quest for increased memory capacity has posed a unique challenge. While achieving high frequencies with single DDR5 modules is relatively straightforward, the dynamic changes once dual DIMMs or four DIMMs are introduced. With the addition of four DIMMs, especially CUDIMMs, achieving both increased capacity and higher memory frequencies has historically presented significant hurdles.

ASUS has recently unveiled its improved AEMP feature—entitled ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile III—which now permits configurations of up to 64 GB CUDIMM DDR5 modules clocked at 5600 MT/s. Previously, these specifications were capped at 4400 MT/s and only supported dual DIMM configurations. This latest iteration supports up to four DIMM setups on popular Intel 800-series motherboards, including the Z890 and B860 models.

To illustrate this capability, ASUS demonstrated the AEMP III feature using a Core Ultra Series 2 processor on the ROG Maximus Z890 Extreme motherboard. A kit comprising four 64 GB Kingston memory modules, operating at 5600 MT/s through the AEMP III Profile, was highlighted in this demonstration. Importantly, this support is currently exclusive to Kingston’s 64 GB CUDIMM DDR5 modules. When integrated into ASUS’s 800-series motherboards, users can easily activate the AEMP III feature through the AI Overclock Tuner option in the BIOS settings.

Once enabled, users may observe performance enhancements purportedly reaching up to 27% over existing DDR5-4400 memory kits, as claimed by ASUS. While no specific benchmarks or application tests have been shared to substantiate this performance increase, the incremental 1200 MT/s boost could translate to noticeable advancements in select applications and gaming scenarios. However, the exact circumstances under which ASUS measured this performance uplift remains unclear.

Of significance is that the enhanced clock driver on CUDIMMs ensures superior stability compared to traditional DIMMs. As a result, this development positions mainstream Intel-based desktop PCs to deliver an experience akin to that of professional workstations.
