ASUS has broadened its BTF (Backside connector) lineup for desktops by introducing an array of new motherboards, graphics cards, and a groundbreaking BTF 2.5 “1000W”connector.
Unveiling the BTF 2.5 Connector: A Leap in Power Delivery
The BTF ecosystem is rapidly evolving, with ASUS unveiling various new products at Computex, including an expanded selection of BTF, ROG, and TUF components. This initiative aims to provide PC builders with streamlined, cable-free setups while enhancing accessibility for power and I/O connections.

In 2025, ASUS is set to launch two high-performance BTF graphics cards: the ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 BTF Edition and the TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 5070 Ti BTF White Edition. Additionally, five new motherboards, featuring top-tier models such as the ROG Crosshair X870E HERO BTF and Maximus Z890 HERO BTF, will be introduced, alongside a selection of six new chassis, including two from the ROG series and one from TUF.

The Revolutionary BTF 2.5 Connector: Enhanced Power and Flexibility
A significant update for 2025 is the BTF 2.5 connector, engineered to deliver an impressive 1000W of power—400W more than its predecessor, the 600W BTF GC-HWPR connector. This new design is fully detachable, ensuring compatibility with both existing BTF systems and standard motherboards, thereby enhancing user flexibility. The BTF 2.5 connection will be integrated into the new ROG Astral and TUF graphics cards launched announced today.

The latest BTF graphics cards will feature both GC-HPWR and 16-pin ports, enabling enhanced power management. Presently, exceeding power limits is controlled by the BIOS. However, ASUS is contemplating a custom BIOS or firmware option that may allow users to activate a dual-mode power feature, potentially offering even greater power supply capabilities.

This enhancement, which allows the simultaneous use of a standard 16-pin connector alongside a BTF 2.5 connector, could significantly boost overclocking potential. While ASUS has yet to announce a timeline for this capability, it certainly has enthusiasts eagerly anticipating its arrival. As the BTF product line continues to expand, users can expect further exciting updates from ASUS in the future.
