ASUS BETA BIOS 1202 for AM5 Motherboards: Optimizations for Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D with AI Cache Boost

ASUS has rolled out a new BETA BIOS update aimed at enhancing the performance of its AM5 motherboards, specifically for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D and 9900X3D processors featuring 3D V-Cache technology.

ASUS Introduces BETA BIOS for Enhanced Performance on AM5 Motherboards

As the anticipation builds for the release of the AMD Ryzen 9 9000X3D 3D V-Cache CPUs, AMD and its partner motherboard manufacturers have begun laying the groundwork to ensure optimal support for these powerful chips. Notably, industry players like MSI and ASRock have already issued updated BIOS versions for their motherboards. ASUS is now following suit with its own enhancements.

While the BETA BIOS versions are still being finalized, they are expected to provide improved support for the high-performance X3D CPUs, as well as optimize overall system functionality and RAM compatibility. This latest update is available for various 600 and 800 series AM5 motherboards.

Both the AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D and 9950X3D processors come equipped with a substantial 128 MB of L3 cache through a dedicated 3D V-Cache chiplet housed beneath one of the core dies (CCDs).These new CPUs serve as successors to the Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D, utilizing the latest Zen 5 architecture while maintaining the same core and thread configurations, albeit with improved clock speeds.

Initial reports indicate these new processors could deliver gaming performance on par with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, while significantly excelling in productivity applications. Recent synthetic benchmark results have demonstrated that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D holds its own against the non-X3D variant, positioning it as a formidable contender. The official launch for these CPUs is scheduled for March 12, closely following AMD’s anticipated release of RDNA 4 GPUs.
