AMD systems are reaching new performance heights, especially when paired with compatible motherboards such as the ASUS B850M AYW Gaming OC.

AMD’s latest architectures, Zen 4 and Zen 5, demonstrate remarkable capabilities for supporting high memory frequencies. However, achieving speeds of 10, 000 MT/s or more requires the trifecta of an exceptional motherboard, a quality memory kit, and a powerful CPU. The challenge escalates when trying to reach 10, 000 MT/s with a 2x 24 GB memory configuration, as recently showcased by G. Skill. In a latest announcement, G. Skill took to X, celebrating successful internal benchmarks that pushed DDR5 memory performance to astonishing levels.

The testing utilized the well-regarded ASUS B850M AYW Gaming OC WiFi motherboard, which recently enabled a 48 GB (2x 24 GB) DDR5 memory kit to achieve a remarkable 10, 400 MT/s while operating with the Ryzen 5 8500G at CL50 latency. These latest findings are even more significant, as they indicate the potential for achieving 10, 600 MT/s at a 1:2 ratio, while maintaining similar latency levels. Notably, the B850M AYW features a 1 DPC memory configuration, which enables faster speeds with lower latency and enhanced stability, making it a formidable competitor against high-end 800-series motherboards.

This motherboard set a remarkable precedent when ASUS’s Tony leveraged it to break 12 world records. Notably, this test underscores the motherboard’s overclocking capabilities, allowing users to attain speeds greater than 10, 000 MT/s without having to invest excessively in a premium motherboard or CPU. While ASUS stipulates a maximum DDR5 speed of 9600 MT/s for Ryzen 8000 series CPUs and 8400 MT/s for Ryzen 9000 series CPUs, the pursuit of 10, 000 MT/s remains elusive, as demonstrated by previous peaks of 8800 MT/s with the Ryzen 9800X3D.

Nevertheless, the results are commendable, especially with a latency of CL34. While we have yet to see similar performance outcomes from the MSI B850MPOWER, a direct competitor, initial tests suggest it can be quite impressive. However, the ASUS board emerges as the superior option, retailing for less than $200, compared to the MSI model’s price of over $250.
