Next-Gen AMD Ryzen APUs: ASUS Optimizes Support with AGESA 1.2.7.0 BIOS
The recent developments in AMD’s upcoming Ryzen APU lineup have generated excitement within the tech community. The newly introduced AGESA 1.2.7.0 firmware includes enhanced compatibility with the anticipated Ryzen APUs, presumably from the Strix and Krackan families. While AMD has yet to unveil these chips officially, motherboard manufacturers are proactively ensuring their boards can support the new chipsets effectively.
Previously, support for the next-generation AM5 APU family was initiated through earlier BIOS iterations such as AGESA 1.2.0.3 and its subsequent patches. The latest BIOS version promises improved capabilities.

Currently, the ASUS AGESA 1.2.7.0 BIOS is categorized as BETA, while the official versions are still running on the AGESA 1.2.0.3g firmware. The BETA BIOS introduces several noteworthy changes:
- Updated to AGESA ComboAM5
- Added support for new APUs
- Performance enhancements for the system
While we anticipate AMD and its partners to launch a more refined and official BIOS upon the release of the next-gen Ryzen AM5 APUs, users eager to access early support can download the appropriate firmware for their respective motherboards from the links provided below:

The upcoming Ryzen APUs for the AM5 socket, tentatively named the Ryzen 9000G series, are poised to replace the aging Ryzen 8000G series. These new processors are expected to feature advanced Zen 5 architecture along with RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, delivering a substantial performance boost over their predecessors, the Hawk Point series. Additionally, advancements in NPU capabilities, anticipated to reach between 50-55 TOPS, make these APUs particularly appealing for mainstream PC builders looking to harness enhanced graphics and processing functionalities.
