  • Anticipating future trends, Sony is committed to developing more family-friendly games following Astro Bot’s resounding success.

Astro Bot received the Game of the Year award at the DICE Awards on February 13, 2025, continuing its impressive string of accolades. This latest recognition highlights Astro Bot’s ongoing success at major events, where it has garnered numerous honors over recent months.

Originating from a PlayStation 4 technology demonstration, the Astro Bot franchise has evolved tremendously, with its latest installment praised as one of the finest games of 2024. Launched last October, this Team Asobi-crafted platformer received acclaim that propelled it among the most celebrated games in history. Beyond its award wins, Astro Bot achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over 1.5 million copies within the first two months of its release. Its recent recognition at the DICE Awards adds to its growing list of achievements.

During the 28th DICE Awards, Team Asobi emerged victorious in the Game of the Year category, outshining competitors like Balatro and Helldivers 2. In total, Astro Bot secured five distinct awards, which included Family Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Outstanding Technical Achievement, and Outstanding Achievement in Animation. Additionally, it received a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, though that award ultimately went to Helldivers 2. The recent recognition comes swiftly after a Game of the Year win at the New York Game Awards in January 2025.
